He is survived by sons Albert, Paul, Jerry, Jimmy, Freddie and Lester Lawson; daughter Patricia Barnett, Anna Fields and Colleen Caldwell, along with 21 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ located on Big Branch Road in Viper, Ky. Singing will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 29. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Combs and the late Minnie Young Combs. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her husband, J.C. "Costie" Jones; sons Kenneth Edward and Edna Jones and Jerry Lynn and Linda Jones; sisters Jessie Bowling and Geraldine Baker; brother Truman Combs; grandchildren Kenneth Joseph, Dustin Brian and Jerry Dwayne; and great grandchildren Emma Joe Madison, John Sawyer and John Wyatt. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 28 with Emmitt Campbell officiating. Interment will be at Jones Cemetery located at Lost Creek. ********************************************************** Alta Johnson Alta Bowles Johnson, 93, formerly of Hazard, died on Saturday, October 23 at her residence in Lexington. She was born in Teges, Ky., the daughter of the late Henry and Sophia Combs Bowles. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Hazard, and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Johnson; son Donald Clayton Johnson; daughter Tommy Christine Johnson; brother Earl Clayton Bowles; uncle James D. Marsee and aunt Dora B. Marsee. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Holsclaw and husband Roy; granddaughter Laura Holsclaw; grandson Steve Holsclaw and wife Gretchen, all of Lexington. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 26 at 11 a.m. at the Englewood Cemetery located at Christopher. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 150 E. She is survived by sons Rick Newsome of Lotts Creek and Christopher Newsome of Viper; daughter Tammy Newsome of Richmond, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 26 at the Big Leatherwood Old Regular Baptist Church beginning at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27. She was the daughter of the late Balis Lee Ritchie and the late Eva Gayheart Ritchie. She is survived by her brother, Jim Ritchie, special cousin Sally Adams and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was a rock truck operator and the son of the late Kelly Watts and the late Jane Napier Watts. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Addie Davidson and brothers Paul, Estill, Arvil and Holbert. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Watts; son Robert Lee Watts, Jr.; sister Diane Feltner; brother Homer Watts and special friends Jeff Noble and family.
