J.R." Harrison Adams, Jr., 74, of Sunman, Indiana died Monday, September 6, 2010 at The Waters in Batesville, Indiana. He was born March 21, 1936 in Von, Kentucky. Junior is survived by his Wife of 32 years, Vi (Bechtel) Adams; Children, Bill, Jake, Barb, and Bev; Grandchildren, Brian, Luke, Donny, Tyler, Tara & Rico; Great-Granddaughter, Brooklyn; and his Sister, Towonna. He was preceded in death by His Parents, Harrison & Tishie (Sexton) Adams and ten Siblings. J.R. was an automobile mechanic in Peoria, Illinois. He retired in 1995 and has since lived in the Sunman, Indiana area. J.R. also enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved cars and boats and he particularly enjoyed working on motors because of his deep appreciation of how they worked. His family shared that when his friends came over they would sit around the table, drinking coffee, and pondering life's biggest questions so they dubbed it the table of knowledge. His children said that they called their dad the Tree of Knowledge and went on to share that their father had a brilliant mind. They respected their "Pops" very much. In his final hours J.R. was blessed to be surrounded by his wife and children, hearing them cry together and laugh together. It was a beautiful way to go. The visitation will be Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Cook Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman, Indiana 47041. The funeral service will follow beginning at 6:30 PM with friends and family sharing memories of his life in his honor.
