Phillip Jourdon Mullins, 70, of North Las Vegas, NV, passed away at his home in North Las Vegas with his family by his side on Friday, August 20, 2010. Born on March 30, 1940, in Amburgey, Knott County, KY, he was the son of the late Herbert Mullins and Sally (Jones) Mullins of Austin, IN. Phil lived most of his life and raised his family in Union Mills, IN where he worked as a painter and an assembler for New York Blowers for 29 years. Four brothers preceded him in death: Marion Mullins, George Mullins, Colonel Mullins and Paul Gene Mullins. Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Geraldine (Lawson) Mullins of North Las Vegas, NV; Two children: a son, Ronnie Dale Mullins of North Las Vegas, NV and a daughter, Marilyn Myers of North Las Vegas, NV; Two grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Shelby Lynette Myers of North Las Vegas, NV and Shaun Dale Myers of North Las Vegas, NV; Eleven remaining brothers and sisters, Sylvia M. Mullins of Austin, IN; Herbert Mullins, Jr. of Austin, IN; Marie Rice of Austin, IN; Mable Walker of Austin, IN; James A. Mullins of Kalamazoo, MI; Audrey “Faye” Buck of Austin, IN; Obra “Dean” Mullins Michigan City, IN; Betty J. Barger of Austin, IN; Mary A. Martin of Columbus, IN; Dorothy “Dot” Campbell of Greenwood, IN; and Carmel J. Mullins of Austin, IN; and was awesomely blessed with many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was “Uncle Jourdon” to 89 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and even great-great nieces and nephews. Jourdon was a friend to many including Gerald “Jerry” Greenwald. A memorial service will be conducted at Austin Christian Church on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., where many of his family will speak of the great memories of him. His body was cremated, pursuant to his request.
