What is the maiden name of the mother in this obit. I have one that say she is a Hicks and another child with her listed as a Handshoe. Alex "Monk" Slone, age 62 of Mousie, passed away August 1, 2010, at home. He was born June 25, 1948, in Knott County, the son of the late Kennell & Myrtle Handshoe Slone. He was the husband of Edith Mullins Slone. He is survived by 3 sons: buddy Allen (Stacy) Breeding of Pinetop, Alex Dewayne (Angie) Slone of Topmost, & Roosevelt Junior Slone of Mousie; 1 daughter: Teresa Lynn (Jimmy Jr.) Jones of Mousie; 2 brothers: Danny Ray Slone of Topmost and Burton Slone of Lexington; 4 sisters: Hazel Henson of Mousie, Cynthia Henderson of Topmost, Margie Hill of Wheelwright, and Rosalee Slone of Garner; 8 grandchildren: Samantha, Zachary, Brad, Dalila, Amber, Jimmy Jr. II, Rose & Amy; 3 Step Grandchildren: Jennifer, Beth & Barb; A host of nieces, nephews, family & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers: Maryland Slone, Dan Slone, Bob Slone, Kennell Jr. Slone & Daniel Slone; 1 sister: Mary Francis Slone. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Ball Branch Old Regular Baptist Church at Mousie. Burial followed at the Slone Family Cemetery on Tater Branch at Topmost under the direction of the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home at Hindman.
