I have tried for years to find more information concerning by great grandfather John D. Collins born 1870. I find him first in Boyd Co. in 1880. If anyone has information on this Collins family I would greatly appreciate the help. Found on the 1880 Boyd co. census at White Sulphur Springs precinct #4. Household number 40 John W. Collins born 1834 Husband (age 46) mining ore Mary born 1841 wife (age 39) Children: John D. born abt. 1870 (my great grandfather) (age 9) Wm. S.(William ?) born 1873 Kenne P. born 1877 Elizabeth born 1879 I have been told the following about John W. Collins and Mary and their children: Mary's surname was Conley and she had a 1/2 brother John Mayo (Floyd Co) Kenne P. (daughter) was burned to death on a steamboat on the Kentucky river. Elizabeth lived for a time in Weeksbury Floyd Co. KY I know that John D. (my great grandfather) came to Floyd Co. Weeksbury and was married to Sarah Johnson and Susannah Elizabeth Johnson and had a number of children.I find him on the 1900 Floyd Co. census dist 6 married to Sarah Johnson. He is on the 1910 Floyd Co. census dist.6 married to Susannah Elizabeth Johnson.I cannot find him on any census record after 1910. He also was married maybe 2 other times. He had a son Tipton Collins (my grandfather) with Ellen Slone daughter of Henry C and Martha Martin Slone. Henry C. was the son of Reuben Slone Sr. and Sarah Pigman. Ellen Slone also married Hiram Gibson. Hiram was the son of John P. Gibson and Rebecca Terry. John's middle name was Decoursey. John's last son's name was Veda (known as Earnest to my mother) Veda died 4-20-1942 death cert. says he is buried in Flax Patch. I do not know the mother of Veda. I believe John D. died maybe in 1938 or 1939. In the Adam's cemetery at Flax Patch, I see there is a grave listed as Verdie Collins (no other notations) and a grave listed John Collins (no other notation) I believe this is the John C. I am researching...... After years of trying I cannot make any connections back for John D Collin's family. Any help appreciated. Linda
Linda This is one hard family to find. Do you have a list of the children for each of John's wives? What exactly do you want to find. I know you are looking for census records for 1920 and 30. I wonder if they could have moved out of state. But, since you found John and Vertie in the Flaxpatch cemetery this may give the answer. glo --- On Thu, 8/5/10, Linda Fifield <linda@lindafifield.com> wrote: > From: Linda Fifield <linda@lindafifield.com> > Subject: [KYKNOTT] John D.
