He was born January 13, 1929, in Grethel, the son of Robert Newsom and Effie Hall Newsom. He was a Retired Coal Miner and a member of the UMWA. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at 12 noon at the Pilgrim Home Regular Baptist Church at Grethel. Burial followed in the Effie Hall Newsom Cemetery, Grethel, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
