He is survived by his wife, Helen Louise Bailey of Slemp; sons James Bailey of Barbourville, Jack Bailey of Harlan, Jonathan Bailey of Leatherwood, Jeff Roberts of Leatherwood and Thomas Wayne Bailey of Indiana; daughters Jennifer Sumner of Viper and Connie Burkheart of Harlan; brother Kenneth Bailey of California; sister Nebel Hansford of Indiana, along with 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Brashear-Callahan Funeral Home of Viper. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 17 at noon. *************************************************** Aileen White Aileen Williams White, 64, died Thursday, November 11 at her residence in Hazard. She was born in Hazard, the daughter of the late Astor Williams and the late Anny Allen Williams. She was a retired school teacher, having taught at A.B. Combs Elementary. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Chester Williams, and sisters Lee Baker, Polly Faye Neace, Kathleen Davis and Stella Mae Laymond. She is survived by her husband, Roy White of Hazard; brothers Herman Williams of Arizona, Eli, James, Jerry and Joey Williams, all of Ohio, and Astor Williams of Indianapolis, In.; special niece (whom she raised) Aileen White of Hazard, plus a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at the Engle-Walker Perry Chapel in Hazard on Saturday, November 13 at 11 a.m. with Norvell Gambill, A.J. Miller and Emmit Campbell officiating. The burial will follow in the White Cemetery located at Hazard. **************************************************** Berletta Urguhart Berletta Haynes Urguhart passed away on November 6 at her home in St. Augustine, Fla. She was born on January 16, 1933 in Letcher County. After gradating from high school, she moved to Florida where she lived the remainder of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Ethel Haynes of Hazard and elder sister June Haynes McDaniel. Berletta worked as a medical assistant and bookkeeper to a Jacksonville ophthalmologist for over 20 years. During those years she and her husband William lived aboard their boat, Sheneeda, and enjoyed traveling and fishing the waterways throughout Florida. After retirement, they relocated to Palatka, Fla. where she enjoyed traveling, gardening and reading. She is survived by a loving family which includes her husband of 30 years, William R. Urguhart; son Gregory Lawson; daughter Terry Hartley; stepchildren Andrew Urguhart and Dawn Wiles; grandchildren Ron Stevens, Wesley Stevens, Matthew Stevens, Jena Skinner, Dusty Wiles and Danielle Lipscomb; great grandchildren Alexander Stevens, Karissa Stevens, Brianna Stevens, Jody Skinner and Rustin Lipscomb. She also leaves behind one brother, Hoover Haynes, sisters Betty Haynes Rose, Jenny Haynes Aylen and Judy Haynes Levinson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones. A memorial service will be held November 20 at Crescent Beach in St. Augustine. He is survived by his son, Willie Shepherd of Brooksville, Fla., daughter Debra Slone Shepherd of Jupiter, Fla., stepdaughter Gloria Brashear of Viper, four brothers, four sisters, seven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was the daughter of the late John Russell and the late Vicie Russell. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Lee Hurt, son Jeffery Hurt, brother Claude Russell and special friend Johnny Hurt. She is survived by daughters Jeanette king, Christine King, Joann Hall, Sally Ann Hurt and Vicie Norma Baker; sons James Lee Hurt, Wayne Hurt and Larry Hurt; sisters Eliza Martin, Gevena Miller, Luna Sexton and Irene McDonald; brothers Goble Russell and Floyd Russell, along with 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Russell-Hurt Cemetery located at Hazard. **************************************************** Lawrence Napier Lawrence Napier, 56, of Hazard, died Thursday, November 11 at the Hazard ARH medical center. He was the son of the late Hent Napier and the late Ethel Mae Napier, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Williams Napier and two sisters. He is survived by daughters Mary Sue and husband David Melton and Kristie Mae Lanham; sister Pamela Kay Napier; brothers Freddie and wife Shirley Napier, Elbert Napier and Scotty Napier; and grandchildren Dylan, Rebecca, Desaray, Grant and Payton. Interment will be at Napier Cemetery located at Combs. ***************************************************** Joe C. Eversole III Joe C. Eversole III was born in Hazard, Kentucky on December 21, 1952. He attended the Hazard City Schools, graduating from Hazard High School in 1971. During his elementary and high school years, Joe became an accomplished pianist, and he took second place honors in Louisville at the Association of Piano Teachers State Competition. Joe played the saxophone in the HHS marching band and concert band and received many superior awards for his solo performances. He also played the pipe organ for the First Presbyterian Church in Hazard during his high school years, playing for the Sunday worship services as well as many weddings and funerals. After his high school graduation, Joe attended Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. He moved to New York City in 1976, and that magical city became his home for the next 34 years. Joe's first employment was typing the daily scripts for the several popular TV soap operas including Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless. After a year at this job, Joe was employed by New York University Admission's Office and later was recruited by the graduate office as the administrative aid. Over the years, he counseled and advised students as they prepared for NYU graduate school. Joe Eversole will be greatly missed by his many co-workers and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, J.C. Eversole, Jr.; grandparents Joe C. Eversole and Letty and Mollie Napier Combs, and a niece, Lea Ann Toler. He is survived by his mother, Ann Combs Eversole of Hazard; sister Molly Ann Toler and husband Jake of Hazard; nieces Laura Jo Pelfrey and husband Danny Wayne of Hazard and Allison Cesaro and husband Steve of Columbus, Ohio; great nephews Skylar, Wade, Hank and Max Pelfrey and Corey and Dominic Cesaro; great niece Brittany Hart; devoted companion Amanda McMurray; beloved co-worker Nancy Hall and his two cats, Mattie and Mollie, along with a host of other relatives and friends. She was born in Hiner, the daughter of the late Millard Smith and the late Georgia Ann Gibbs Smith. She was a devoted housewife, a member of the New Mount Zion Old Regular Baptist Church for 49 years and was a deaconess of the church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thurman "Buck" Napier, brothers Everett and Earl Smith and sister Omagene Couch. She is survived by her son, Everett Wayne Napier and wife Danna Moore Napier of Hazard; daughter Christine Napier of Richmond; sisters Agnes Brewer of Dayton, Ohio, Nellie and Edna Eversole of Hazard and Nola Begley and Jack of Ohio; sisters-in-law Wilma Jones and Norris of Dice, Thelma Lipps and Carl of Lafolliete, Tn.; brothers-in-law Herman "Pete" Napier and Zerda of Germantown, Ohio and Elmer Napier and Barbara of Hamilton, Ohio; grandchildren Madison "Grace" Walker and Jacob "Seldon" Walker, all of Hazard, plus a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was retired from Blue Diamond Coal Company and was the son of the late Dan Kilburn and the late Corba Kilburn. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Whitt) Kilburn; daughter Phyllis Ann Combs; brother Thurman Kilburn and two grandchildren. He is survived b his daughter, Carolyn Kilburn, son Ronnie Kilburn, brother Buford Kilburn, nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
