John "Wes" Combs, 68, of Imlay City, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center. John Wesley Combs was born on December 27, 1941 in Tina, Kentucky. He was the son of Edward and Hazel Combs. John graduated from Royal Oak Kimball High School class of 1965. He married Sandra Hoelle on June 19, 1965 in Auburn Hills, MI. He lived in Imlay City for 32 years. He retired from Oakland County Water & Incinerator Dept. as a heavy equipment operator. John was an original member of Imlay City Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Sandra Combs of Imlay City. son: John Wesley Combs of Imlay City. daughters: Hazel ( Jim ) Copeland of Goodrich, Cheryl ( Denny ) Snow of Kalamazoo and Carly ( Chad ) Gonda of Attica. 7 grandchildren: Jimmy, Jordan, Sarah, Brayden, Dawson, Austin and Tristan. brothers: Carl ( Maude ) Combs of Calvena, MI and Clayton ( Nancy ) Combs of Kingston. sisters: Marilee Kelly of Rochester Hills and Shirley ( Robert ) Anderson of Calvena, MI. and many nieces & nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Hazel , brother Ray and an infant brother Alvis. The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Lapeer Regional Medical Center especially the ICU staff for their loving care. A Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2010 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. I am unable to determine which Edward Combs his father was. The KBI shows that Hazel was also a Combs. All of the children were born in Knott Co and here is the obit for his brother, Ray in 1998. TROY -- Ray Combs, 60, of Rochester Hills, formerly of Kentucky, died March 20, 1998. He is survived by a daughter Mrs. Tina Combs (Mark Aimly); his mother, Mrs. Hazel Combs; sisters, Mrs. Marilee Kelly, Mrs. Shirley Anderson (Robert); brothers, Carl Combs (Maud), John Combs (Sandra) and Clayton Combs (Nancy); and a granddaughter, Jill Aimly. Visitation was held Sunday and funeral services are today at noon at Price Funeral Home, 3725 S. Rochester Rd., Troy. Interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy. Carter
