Published in the Hazard Herald 8 December 2010 ************************************************ Maude Angelini Maude Stubblefield Angelini, 84, passed away on Sunday, December 5 at the Hazard ARH medical center. She was born in Leslie County, the daughter of the late John Stubblefield and the late Hazel Wooton Stubblefield. She was a member of the Combs Baptist Church, and was also preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe Angelini; brother John M. Stubblefield and nephew Jeff Stubblefield. She is survived by her son, John Angelini of Combs; brother Charles D. Stubblefield and wife Alma of San Antonio, Texas; sister Sue Couch of Combs; nephew Greg Stubblefield of Ohio; nieces Linda Taylor of Ohio, Angela Walker of Hazard and Melissa Stubblefield of Texas, plus a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at the Combs Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8 with Kenny Smith, Clell Miller and H.C. Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Deaton Family Cemetery located at Combs. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard. ************************************************* Walter Cornett Walter Cornett, 78, died Thursday, December 2 at his residence in Christopher. He was born in Hazard, the son of the late Lula Cornett, and was a lifelong resident of Perry County. He was formerly employed by Engle Funeral Home, and was also preceded in death by his brother, Willie Cornett. He is survived by his sister, Eunice "Sis" Cornett of Christopher, plus a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard on Sunday, December 5 with Bob Combs officiating. Burial took place in the Cornett Cemetery located at Christopher. ************************************************** Oscar Roberts Oscar "Wendy" Roberts, 67, passed away on Wednesday, December 1. He was born in Perry County, the son of the late Marcus and Mary M. Roberts. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters. A lifelong resident of Perry County, he is survived by his brother, Ira Southwood of Hyden; sisters Adna Napier and Emma Jean Deaton, both of Combs; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 3 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard with Curt Eversole officiating. Burial followed in the Deaton Cemetery at Ladder Branch. *************************************************** Albert Alexander Jr. Albert Raymond Alexander, Jr., 85, formerly of Hazard, died Thursday, December 2 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Fl. He was a retired district supervisor for the state of Kentucky Department of Mines and Minerals. He was the son of the late Albert R. Alexander and the late Dovie Reynolds Alexander. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Alexander; son A.R. Alexander and brothers Roger and Elden Alexander. He is survived by his wife, Donna Alexander; daughter Teresa Fowler and husband John; grandchild Laura Padfield; great-grandchildren Trey McCoy Fowler and Destiny Joyce Anne Padfield. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8. Services will follow, while interment will be at Evans Cemetery in Campton. *************************************************** Joyce Morgan Joyce Morgan, 73, of Hazard, died Friday, December 3 at the Hazard ARH medical center. She was the daughter of the late French Fugate and the late Clara Gross Fugate. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Morgan. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Morgan; sons Arthur Morgan, James Morgan and Kenneth Paul Morgan; two brothers and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7. Funeral services will immediately follow. Burial will take place at Combs Cemetery in Combs. **************************************************** Mary Jo Sumner Mary Jo Sumner, 74, of Vicco, died Monday, November 29 at home. She was born in Booneville, and was an avid Avon lady in the Vicco area for 35 years. The daughter of late James Howell and the late Edna Moore Howell, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Norman C. Sumner, and brother Fred Howell. She is survived by sons Stanley Sumner and Vicki of Walland, Tn., Johnny Sumner and Gloria of Vicco, Jerry Sumner of Vicco and Charlie Sumner and Kim of Walland; daughters Sandra Centers and Johnny of Jenkins, Tammy Combs and Earl of Happy, Robbie Combs and Marvin of Vicco, and Penny Adams and Bill of Walland; sister Betty Ann Smith of Ohio; half-brother Lawrence Sumner of Georges Branch; half-sister Betty May Craig of Amherst, Ohio, plus 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 2 with Danny Dixon and Karl Baker officiating. Burial was in the Combs Family Cemetery at Scuddy. Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard was in charge of arrangements. ***************************************************** Alvin Couch Alvin Couch, 65, of Hazard, passed away on Saturday, November 27 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was the son of the late Arnold Couch and the late Oma Couch. He is survived by daughter Sheryl Burke and husband Dave and Angie Christopher and husband Todd; son Kevin Couch and wife Tina; sisters Sue Ledford and Nelva Murray; brothers Melvin Couch, Floyd Couch and Riley Couch and six grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 4. Funeral services will immediately follow with Doug Finley officiating. Interment will be at Couch Cemetery in Hazard. *****************************************************
