Hi, folks I haven't been online much these past few months because of the computer virus that knocked out our desktop computer back in September... (that, and being back in school in my middle age...!) I have a genealogy question for you all...I managed to locate one of the booklets written by my uncle, F. Scott Owens (born at Pippa Passes; grandson of Milton Owens). In it he writes: "About 10 days after Frances (Reynolds) came to Caney Creek, (after she married Elisha Owens in 1919) a strange man came knocking on the door. He said he heard her name was Reynolds. He told her his name was Maryland Reynolds and he asked about her father's name. After she gave him her father's name, he told her that his father was Wesley Reynolds and that they were cousins, as their Reynolds grandparents were brothers. Prior to this meeting, Frances was unaware of the existence of this part of the Reynolds family. She wasted no time in becoming acquainted with all her new-found relatives who lived on both Caney Creek, and nearby Reynolds' Fork of Troublesome Creek." Ok, Grandmother grew up in Watergap, and her dad was Wm James Reynolds, of Prestonsburg/Watergap in Floyd County. His father was Michael Scott Reynolds, and was supposedly born in Virginia. I had thought he might be a grandson of Joseph and Sarah Perkins Reynolds, possibly a son of James Reynolds and Milly McAlexander, as James appears to have remained in Virginia. Now, I'm not so sure! Who would have been the grandfather of Maryland Reynolds, and the father of Wesley Reynolds? According to Maryland, he would have been Grandmother's gr-uncle....Were Wesley's parents Joseph, Jr. and Queentina Amburgey Reynolds? No one in my family seems to have written much about Michael Scott Reynolds or his parents...the connection to James and Milly is only a hypothesis I tried on the Ancestry website to see if it gave me any data or records when I tried to search...if you see anything on Ancestry.com about Michael Scott being the son of James and Milly, that's from my search attempts.
