    2. Hassell "Rex" Bentley, 68, of Rome City died Monday, March 1, 2010, at 1:35 p.m. in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Mr. Bentley retired from Silgon Plastics in Ligonier after 37 years of service. He was an outdoorsman and an avid fisherman. He liked to do woodworking, and loved family outings. He was born March 3, 1941, in Hindman, Kentucky, to Luther and Lona (Taylor) Bentley. On December 23, 1961, in Hindman, Kentucky, he married Colleen Gibson. Surviving are his wife, Colleen Bentley of Rome City; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen & Michael Sawyer of Wolcottville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth Bentley of Rome City and Michael & Brooke Bentley of Rome City; six grandchildren, Shawn Sawyer and his friend Jolee Stauffer, Crystal Sawyer, Alex Rex Sawyer and his friend Joanna Dyesse, Jessica Campbell, Kaylee Layne Bentley, Damon Michael Bentley; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Lily Combs of Leesburg, Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles & Tootsie Bentley of Hindman, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and close friends, Chester & Eddie Craft. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Paul Bentley, and a nephew, Derrick Tolvier. Funeral services will be Friday, March 5, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Salem United Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Ray Tuttle officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City. Casketbearers will be Shawn Sawyer, Alex Rex Sawyer, Billy Ray Bentley, Tim Bentley, Bobby Bentley, and Homer Bentley.
