I remember him very well. He is son of William Riley Combs and Sarah Francis. Ambrose Deaton was Deputy Sheriff when I was a kid hanging around the Show House in Vicco. Kinley Craft lived on Breeding Creek and was a famous Casket Maker. He made two for my family that I know of. He had all kinds of stuff made from wood in his yard. Once my Dad and I stopped to see what he had. Must have been my mothers anniversay or we had been gone from home to long. Because he bought a present for her that day. You want believe this, mother didn't either. He bought a tree limb with the bark skinned off and painted white. The limb was stuck down into a hole bored into a chunk of log. You know, to hold it up. Mounted on the limbs were birds that Kinley had carved out. But the unbelievable part is all the birds were painted polka-dot. Black and White polka-dots. I swear this is the truth. But McKinley Craft could make caskets. JB Francis
