He was born in Knott County, Kentucky on February 4, 1922 to Leslie Draughn and Ruie Maggard Draughn. He is survived by 1 brother: Homer (Bessie) Draughn; 4 sisters: Gertrude Horne, Norma (Grover) Slone, Jean (Fred) Smith and Clara Evelyn Draughn; host of nieces and nephews. Thanks so much for posting this!!! I along with many others loved Duck and grieved deeply. I still visit his grave at Jeff at least twice each year. In our talks, she said several times people had visited the Vietnam Wall of Honor and brought back pencil tracings of his name to her. I came across an article that was written in the Louisville Courier paper in 1968. It's author John Fetterman won the Pulitzer for local reporting. The title is Pvc.Gibson Comes Home. It is a very touching account of James Thurman "Little Duck" Gibson's body brought home for burial after the loss of his life in Viet Nam. He was from Flax Patch, Knott Co, and the son of Norman Gibson.
