DARRELL VON HICKS, age 62, of Corunna, died on Friday, April 30, 2010 at his home in Corunna. Mr. Hicks was born in Porter, Kentucky near the Milton Conley hollar, on January 5, 1948 to the late Harvey and Crystal (Thornsberry) Hicks. He married Linda Sue Cox on May 19, 1969 in Wise, West Virginia. He worked at Essex Wire in Kendallville for 32 years before retiring in 2008. Darrell was a dedicated member of the Harbor Of Love Baptist Church near Kendallville. He loved to be outside, fishing, hunting, gardening and tending to his flowers. His family and church were the most important things in his life and he enjoyed good music and singing and visiting with people. Survivors include: His wife, Linda Sue Hicks of Corunna. Son, Stacy Hicks of Corunna. Daughter, Serina and Kenneth Lynch of Corunna. Daughter, Rachel Bidwell of Corunna. Son, Adam Hicks of Corunna. Five granddaughters: Brittany Lynch, Katlin Hicks, Ashlie Hicks, Courtney Lynch, and Brooklyn Bidwell. Four grandsons: Wyatt Hicks, Jesse Hicks, Carson Hicks, and Sedrik Hicks. Sister, Velma Glee and Rev. Jerry Collins of LaGrange. Sister, Ruby and Willie Sparkman of Corunna. Sister, Vessie and Herman Crager of Corunna. Sister, Margaret Johnson of Michigan. Sister, Refus and Carl Ashley of Kentucky. Sister, Margie Hicks of Kentucky. Brother, Chester Lee "Sonny" and Mavis Hicks of Corunna. Brother, Joey Hicks of Kentucky. VIRGIE “THELMA” CAUDILL, age 79, of Kendallville, went onto her heavenly home on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. Mrs. Caudill was born in Topmost, Kentucky, Knott County, on May 24, 1930 to the late Robert and Arminda (Short) Collins. She married Maggard Caudill on May 24, 1943 in Pikeville, Kentucky and he preceded her death November 1, 1976. She was a homemaker and member of Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church in Lisbon. She was born on September 18, 1957 in Chicago, IL to Byron J.& Maude (Grigsby) Branam Jr. Deborah grew up attending Clear Creek Baptist Church in Fisty, KY and graduated from Knott County Central High School in 1976. She currently attended the Crosswalk of Ligonier and worked for BRC Rubber in Ligonier. Surviving are her husband, Michael E. Smith of Knott County, KY; three sons, Michael J. Smith of Ligonier, IN, David A. Smith of Ligonier, IN, Kelly A. (Erenstina Zarraga) Smith of Lawrence, KS; one daughter, Cheyenne Smith of Knott County, KY; one granddaughter, Victoria Abigal Smith of Lawrence, KS; two sisters, Dana Slone of Ligonier, IN, Donna Becker of Ligonier, IN; two brothers, Dean Branam of Hindman, KY, David Branam of Hindman, KY; one aunt, Polly Collins of Ligonier, IN and many nieces and nephews.
