    2. Archie Holliday, 79, of Rome City died Friday, August 27, 2010, at 11:03 a.m., in his residence. Mr. Holiday retired as a machine operator having worked for Group Dekko in South Milford and Albion. He had served in the United States Army during the Korean war. He was born June 29, 1931, in Knott County, Kentucky to Jim and Nancy (Combs) Holliday. On December 17, 1955 in Jeffersonville he married Geneva Mullins. Surviving are his wife, Geneva Holliday of Rome City; two sons, Doug and Mallia Holliday of Rome City, and Todd and April Holliday of Fort Wayne; three daughters, Patricia and Mike Maberson of Fort Wayne, Tara and Daniel Hayes of Albion and Tina and Darris Campbell of Kendallville; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Homister of Kendallville; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Flora Holliday of Rome City and Kizer and Vena Holliday of Arizona. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Funeral services will be Monday, August 30, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church, Lisbon, with the Elders of the church officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Kris Maberson, Andrew Hendrix, Joe Pilon, Shane Fike, Darris Campbell, Daniel Hayes, Mike Maberson, and Lane Reed. Calling will be Sunday, August 29, 2010, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the church. An evening service will be held at 6 p.m. Preferred memorials are to Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church.     2. Rev. Lawrence E. "Ed" Day, 71, of Scipio, Indiana died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio after an extended illness. He was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on September 12, 1938 to Lawrence and Vera (Calihan) Day. He married Beatrice H. “Bea” Farmer on August 13, 1960 at the Scipio United Baptist Church in Scipio, Ohio. Ed proudly served our country as an Army Veteran of the Korean War. After his military service he worked at Campbell-Hausfeld and also did auto body and painting work and many other odd jobs throughout his life. He accepted the calling to preach the Word of God in 1976, and was for many years the Pastor of Scipio United Baptist Church in Scipio, a vocation that he loved dearly. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was a lifelong member of the Wilburn Dennison Veteran's of Foreign War (VFW) Post #2014 in Brookville, Indiana. He loved to play and write music and sang and played gospel-bluegrass music with the Ed Day and The Gospel Travelers, as well as many others, for years. He was a big sports fan and a particularly avid watcher of University of Kentucky basketball. However, praising and serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was what he most loved to do. Survivors include Son and Daughter-in-law, Jerry & Debbie Day of Mt. Carmel, Indiana; Daughter, Janice Hasley of Scipio, Indiana; and Son, Jeffery Day of Hamilton, Ohio; 7 Grandchildren, including Regina, Travis, Taylor, Jocelyn, Megan, Jeff Jr. (J.J.), and Morgan; 3 Brothers, Hayward (Vivian) Day of Scipio, Leon (Luann) Day of Cedar Grove, and Don (Sheila) Day of Scipio; 1 Sister, Linda York of Okeana, Ohio; and also many nieces, nephews, and a multitude of other family and friends whom he dearly loved. In addition to his Parents, Lawrence and Vera, he was preceded in death by his beloved Wife of 43 years, Beatrice "Bea" Day, who died March 7, 2004; and two Sisters, Barbara Gindling, and Ima Jean Day. The Visitation will be Monday, August 30, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, Indiana and also Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Scipio United Baptist Church, Cincinnati-Brookville Road, Okeana (Scipio), Ohio. The Funeral Service will immediately follow that visitation beginning at 11:00 AM at the Church. The Rev.'s Hubert King and Steve West will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Scipio with Military Graveside Honors provided by the Brookville American Legion's Bernard Hurst Post #77. Survivors include 2 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great-great Grandchild. In addition to her parents and her husband, Edward, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Akers, who died in 2004; her 4 brothers, Buford Elam, Earl Elam, Raymond Elam, and Carl Elam; and 4 sisters, Addie Hamilton, Ruth Frazier, Stella Blair, and Mary Louise Honeycutt. Bob was born in LaGrange, Indiana May 3, 1959 son of the late Franklin and Bessie (Spencer) Combs. He lived in the Willard area before moving to Florida in 1982. He had returned to the Mansfield area three years ago. Bob graduated from Plymouth High School in the class of 1978. He worked as a welder for most of his career, but his real passion was music. He formed many bands, including the most successful, the Robert Lee Combs and the Southern Electric Band. Bob is survived by four children, Robert Clifton Combs and Kristin Blair Combs of Clarksville, TN, and Brandy Nicole Combs and Travis Lee Combs of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, Blaze Bronson Combs, Aubrey Paige Combs, Evan Nathaniel Reign Combs, and Alexander Joseph Combs; he is also survived by four siblings, Frank Combs, Angela Siesel, Nita Beverly and Mike Combs. She was born August 18, 1937 in Prestonsburg, the daughter of late L.P. and Irene Robinson Tussey. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her husband Harold, she is survived by 2 sons; Danny (Debbie) Layne and David (Connie) Layne, all of Prestonsburg, a daughter; Rita (Mike) Morrison, Prestonsburg, a brother; Ballard (Ruby) Tussey, Prestonsburg, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother; Martin Tussey. Funeral service were conducted Monday, August 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, with Jim Smith and Malcom Slone officiating. Burial followed in the Tussey Family Cemetery, Prestonsburg under the kind and professional care of the Hall Funeral Home of Martin.
