I am looking in the LDS online catalog and see a reference under probate records to Kenton County Order Books. What are these? There is another film for will books, so I wasn't quite sure. Thanks! Amy
I've obtained a couple of records at the Kenton Co. courthouse from the "Order Books". To give an example of what you might find: December Term 1889 Came Fred Bitter and on his motion and on motion of Henry Brinker, said Henry Brinker is appointed & permitted to qualify as Guardian of Charles, Henry & Ernst Bitter minors under 14 years of age.... Aug 10 1899 On motion of George Wisker, Josephine Wisker and Wm T. Wisker, it is ordered that J. H. Wisker be and he is hereby appointed Administrator of the Estate of Herman Henry Wisker, deceased..... Also Aug 10 1899 Came Rose Anna Wisker, a minor over the age of 14 years, and made choice of J. H. Wisker, as her Guardinan, and on her motion he is appointed and permitted to qualify as Guardian of said Rose Anna Wisker..... June Term 30th Day, June 1911 Come Joseph Carl Bitter, 15 years of age and Maria Caroline Bitter, 17 years of age, children of Fritz Bitter, deceased, and in open Court select their brother Carl Bitter as their Guardian, thereupon came Katherine Elizabeth Bitter mother of Emma Katherine Bitter, 10 years of age and moves this Court to appoint Carl Bitter her Guardian..... December Term Day 27th Day of December 1912 IN THE MATTER OF THE ESTATE OF FRITZ BITTER (JR.) ORDER DECLARING FRITZ BITTER (Jr) IN LAW, AS DEAD, AND APPOINTING CARL BITTER AS ADMINISTRATOR OF HIS ESTATE It appearing from the petition of Carl Bitter et al, only heirs at law of Fritz Bitter (Jr) as well as from proof heard by this court in support of said petition that Fritz Bitter (jr) brother of the petitioners herein, and son of Fritz Bitter (Sr) and Bernadina Bitter, his wife, both of whom are dead, was born in the City of Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, March 24, 1883, and up to about August 18th, 1904, was a resident of the city of Covington and County of Kenton, Kentucky, and that on said date, so to wit: about August 18, 1904 said Fritz Bitter (Jr) left the County of Kenton and state of Kentucky for Detroit, Michigan; and that since that time nothing whatever has been heard from his by his relatives, friends or acquaitances, and that all efforts to locate him since that time have proved unavailing, and that no untellingence concerning him, for more than seven successive years, next prior to this date has been had, although his family relations were pleasant and happy and nothing appearing which has, or may have, cuased a change in such relations: It is now ordered and adjudged that said Fritz Bitter (Jr) be and he is now, deemed, in law, as dead and it is further ordered that the petitioner Carl Bitter brother of said Fritz Bitter (Jr) be, and is now, appointed as Administrator of his estate. Pursuant to aforesaid order said Carl Bitter has taken the oath and executed bond as required by law, in the sum of $2500.00 the amount fixed by the court with Ben H. Brames as his surety.
