Darla and all; Thanks so much for the offers of help in this matter. Martin Carey has been a mystery in my family research for quite a while. I have verified most of the family info - but finding him buried at St. Mary's Cemetery was a surprise. It was listed on the Kenton County library records site. On some of my visits to the area, I have gone to St. Mary's Cemetery. I did not see any reference to his burial before, and the family members who are buried there apparently have no markers. Ellen (Nellie) BYRON and Patrick KEARY/CAREY were married in Co. Galway Ireland in the early 1850's. Their children, born in Ireland, were (my great-grandfather) Lawrence and Maggie (Margaret), Thomas, Michael, and Martin. Apparently Lawrence was the only one of the siblings who married. Before they left Ireland, there was a son named Patrick born in 1864. Apparently, he died, as he is not found in any further records. The first US census they are found in is 1870 - in Covington. Nellie KEARY was widowed, but there is a son, Martin, born in KY - three years old. Baptismal record shows he was born October 1866. He also shows up in 1880 aged 13, last name CAREY by then. The father, Patrick, is not found in any reference at all after they came from Ireland about 1864/65. He must have died about the time Martin was born, but I also have found no reference to his death or burial. Nellie was a widow in the 1870 census. I have found records for the family at St. Mary's Basilica in Covington. Nellie and daughter Maggie remained in Covington until they both died. The address on census records and Nellie's death record is 77 W. Fifth St. Maggie died as a resident of the "Old Ladies Home" on Garrard. I have done much research on the family and have most of the necessary records -- it was just a surprise to find reference to Martin CAREY at St. Mary's, as I have looked for him before. My grandfather, Lawrence's son, was also named Martin Carey -- apparently for the one I'm trying to find. Your help and suggestions are much welcomed! Ann
