However, you might try your local library or a book dealer with books on Rookwood to see if you can find bio information on that Carl Schmidt. I don't know if he died in 1916 or not, but know that some of his work is dated early 1900's. Maybe he's the son of your Karl/Carl, however. Anyway, if the Rookwood painter is your Carl, you might see his work in a good gallery that handles Rookwood (Cincinnati Art Galleries or Treadway Gallery in Cincinnati) or at the Cincinnati Art Museum.
