E. Brown, who hails from Covington, Ky, less than thirty minutes to get in jail after arriving in Beloit yesterday say the police. The Kentuckian visited a shoe shine parlor in East Grand avenue owned by Pete Harris. He saw a sign on the front door which possessed him with the information that he could get a polish for a nickle. But he overlooked another sign in the interior of the place which says that Saturday and Sunday shines cost a dime. When Brown was told that his polish would cost him a dime he was vexed. The proprietor of the place claims that he used abusive language and that he struck one of the men. Police assistance was required to straighten out the mess that resulted. Brown was hustled off to jail. He pleaded guilty to a disorderly charge in court this morning and was fined $5 and costs.
