He was the older brother of my great grandfather Edward Washington JOnes. Their mother was Rebecca Hardesty Jones, their father was John Jones. John had a first marriage in Kentucky, 5 children,but only 2 of them lived to adulthood - John Samuel and James G. Jones. John (the elder) married Rebecca soon after the death of his first wife, and they had 5 more children, the first being Jacob, who married Bessie Bunnell in 1888. John Samuel had already married Bessie's sister, Mary (Mollie) Bunnell Shanklin, who was a widow with 3 small children. I assume one of those children was you grandfather, but I thought that all of Mollie's children had been born in Missouri before John Sam married her.
