If you enter "Duffee" in the last name field on the next page you get a death record for George B Duffee and the burial records for Mary. Don't know if they give you anything you don't have but it might be worth checking. Good luck!
Regarding the search for the Duffee family; I can see how this would be confusing. In 1900, Kenton Co. KY, there is a widow Mary Duffee b. Apr 1852 in OH with children John b. Jul 1872 age 27 b. KY, Sadie b. Nov 1878 age 21 in OH and Margaret b. Sept 1885 age 14 in KY. That family lived at 1344 Scott Street on 7 June 1900. At the same time, on 1st June 1900, in the census for a Cuba military base, there is a John Duffy age 26, born Jun 1873, single, who was born in KY. His residence is given as 1344 Scott St. Covington KY. So -- this is the same John, even though the middle initial is transcribed as P in one and S in the other. I still see no evidence of the father George anywhere in 1870, nor does the NY family appear to be the same as this one. Ann
In the 1880 census you mentioned -- was this Duffie family living in Louisville, Jefferson Co. KY? There is a very similar DUFFY family in 1870 in New York City living in a boarding house: Eliza age 22, born Louisiana Eliza age 3 born NY George age 2 b. NY No adult George anywhere around, but there is a Frank Duffy age 45 b. NY, a couple of lines above that entry. Any chance "Eliza" is Mary Elizabeth, and the census taker misunderstood "Louisville" for "Louisiana"?? Ann
Hello; In the marriage index for Covington, Kenton Co. KY (Marriage book #1), there is a George W. DUFFEY age 21, resident of Newport, farmer. He was b. KY, father's bp not shown and mother born PA. Bride was Lizzie Shippey, consent by mother, age 18, res. of Covington. She was born GA, f.b. SC, m.b. PA. License issued and wedding both on 8/14/1869. I see nothing in the marriages in either Kenton Co. KY or Hamilton Co. OH for any similar surname spelling to Mary Elizabeth Belsford. Also nothing in the Cincinnati Daily Commercial obituary index. There are quite a few Duffy or Duffey marriages in Cincinnati and the following were in Covington KY: Catherine b. Ire. mar. in 1871 Mary A. b. Ire. mar. 1863 Peter b. Ire. mar. 1863 Mary b. OH mar. 1874 Get back to me if you would like spouses and exact dates of those marriages. Ann Bergelt Florida
