Hello, Not sure I have the right email address. I am always confused when signing up and trying to reach someone! Anyway, I have a picture of my parents in 1935, standing on a concrete pediment along a roadway. It looks like a perfect WPA project. The picture was their wedding day. I am wondering if this landmark is in Kenton County and if it still exists. I would like to visit it. I have pictures if anyone out there would be willing to check this out. I will mail it. I do not have the capability to scan and send it. My parents were married by - it appears - a Mr. J B Read on May 28 1935. My other question is whether or not there were actual filed applications for the license, or if the license I have would be the only document. As I understand it, there was no waiting period. Thanks! Jane, My relatives who died during that period in Covington are buried in Mother of God Cemetery, 2701 Latonia Avenue, Covington, KY 41015. I called the cemetery last year (I have forgotten the phone number but found it thru information) and the office kindly faxed me a list that showed all my Klostermann/n relative's burial sites and then they faxed me a copy of the map of the cemetery with the sections and lots listed. It was a great help since some of the sites contained up to 12 bodies but the headstone only listed my Great Great Grandparents....the cemetery's list showed who else was buried there. There are some records that can be accessed through the Kenton County Library web site if you have a library card. I am not sure if this is the same man or not but there are at least 11 Reverman's buried at St. Mary's including Bernard Reverman. The record is in German and shows a date of July 30, 1903 but I am not 100% sure if that is a death date or burial date. Let me know if you want me to e-mail you off list with a PDF file showing that record. This is in reply to Jane query about St Mary's Cemetery. I too have Catholic rellies buried at St Mary's Cemetery. I visited there about 2 years ago with the express purpose of photographing MI's of my descendents..I found that there is very little organization of material (index cards in boxes..mostly hand written)..but the Superintendent was able to provide a detailed description of where the MI's could be found despite his preparation for a funeral that afternoon. So the Cemetery is still doing burials. It is located on the outskirts of Covington. The Cemetery Superintendent was cordial, but an older fellow who was too busy with the daily operations to provide any guidance or information with the exception of where the MI's were located. I have never been successful at getting him by telephone and there was no computer in sight. At the time, there just happened to be several volumes of the original Burial Log, which, as I understand from another local fellow gen researcher who was there at the same time, were in the process of being transferred to some Church Archive. She said she had never seen them before in all the years she had been doing research there. We briefly compared the Log with the Index Cards of information..they seemed to match. I do not know if that transfer ever occurred, however, I was concerned that these volumes were available for public use without any oversight. I was able to take digital photos of the pages I needed..I felt VERY fortunate that day. What may be useful to you is to contact the volunteer from the RAOGK (Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness) group (volunteers who provide look-ups of various types for a particular county) and see if this person could photo the MI..or do a look-up for you. I am one of the volunteers in California and have been doing this for several years..the system works..The URL is: www.raogk.org/ I also found that the headstones were in remarkably good shape and that the ground around the stones was well tended to..so the physical area looks good. I bought a book while in Covington, The History of the Diocese of Covington, KY authored by Rev. Paul E. Ryan, c. 1954, written on the occasion of the Centenary of the Diocese..perhaps the Kenton County Library also has a copy..I bought it in the St Mary's Church bookstore, across the street from the Church...it is an out of print book..if you have a specific question about a particular congregation, perhaps I can answer it using this resource. Also, I have found that the Kenton County Library is superb and has a Gen Friends group who do Gen research on site there for a very small fee...you might try them also..I have have good success with their look-ups of Gazetteers, Directories, Newspapers, Marriage Indexes, etc. Good luck in your search. Hi -- My Catholic ancestors are buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Mitchell. They were from Covington and died about the same time as yours. Perhaps yours are buried there too. (Or not.) Hope this helps!
