--- Greetings Joan Though I have no connection to the chuch, general location or people being discussed, I find it very interesting reading. You never know, a name that you are searching may pop up in the conversation. I think that the mention of churchs, pastors of the churches, locations, people and dates are a wonderful part of genealogy. Although it seems like a general conversation, names, places and dates are included. I belong to the Jessamine County list and the postings include anything that you can think of and the names I am serching come up in those posting, most all of them. You just never know when a brick wall will be tumbled down from just some idle chat. I remember the Rev. Johannsmann name, he must have been there when I was little. Then I remember Rev. Vancoutern's name because he lived next door to us on W. 7th St before they moved away. My parents bought his Mercury convertible before they left town. My parents were Harold and Virginia(Ginny) Dinser, we lived at 15th and Banklick, and my grandparents were Ealie and Bertha Haas, they lived on Pershing Avenue. Now when my Mom was growing up they lived at 3rd and Philadelphia. I also remember the Schmidts, Art, Barbara come to mind. Have you tried the Kenton County Library in Covington? They have many records there. Good luck.
I graduated from Holmes High School in 1951, so, as you see, I a little older than you. I was a member of Grace Church as a baby and Christened there by Reverend William E. Miller. My husband and I were married there in 1956 and stayed until our children became the "only" children in the church. We then joined the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in 1972. I lived on Elm Street. Small world huh? I was born in 1952. I am not sure what years that my family went there but I can remember sitting with my family in the pews while Mom sang in the choir. We went to Main St. Methodist Church for quite some time as well. I remember going to Sunday school and Vacation Bible School there. My grandparents lived on Pershing Ave. We would stay overnight with them on Saturday and walk to church with them and meet my parents there. Gosh, isn't it funny what you remember from so long ago? I remember a Debbie Davis from school who would be about the same age as me. Where did you live at the time and where did you go to school?
