    3. You might try this addy http://apu.kenton.lib.ky.us/gen/gendb.php and I wrote to the library asking for obits of 4 ancesters and they took the time to find death certs. of 3 of them... way to go Kenton Library. Total cost 7.00 bucks... solution to some family research issues... priceless Darilee RGross4935@aol.com wrote: Is there a death index or a cemetery index which someone could check for the death or burial of Charles W. Smith? His wife was Hattie who was living in the home of Joseph Fennell as a servant in the 1900 census in Covington. His son James was listed living in the 1900 census with Emma Hennesey as a boarder. I cant find Charles anywhere. I have no idea when he was born or died. All I have is a marriage record for him of 1892. Hattie remarried in 1908 and says that she was previously widowed. So I am assuming he died between 1900 and 1908. SCOTT Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BBB.2ACI/2047 Message Board Post: I am searching for two families of soldiers who was killed in the Korea War. When they entered service they gave Kenton County KY as their home of record. Soldier: Henry Albert Lee Born: October 22, 1930, Caucasion Date of loss: Novenber 2, 1950, Killed in Action in North Korea. His remains were never recovered. Soldier; Floyd Cleveland Scott Born; November 12, 1930, Caucasion Date of loss: September 26, 1950 Killed in Action. His remains were never recovered. When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 35 families in Kentucky that have not been located. There are two famlies from Kenton County that has not been located. When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find these families. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency. I will be grateful for any assistance in locating these families. 3. Hello all, As you probably already know the mailing lists are being moved to a new list management system. this list is scheduled to be migrated on Wednesday, August 23 For anyone interested the schedule and additional information may be found http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html Once this list is moved to the new service it should not present any problems but you should be aware that you may need to adjust your spam filters. Officially from rootsweb: <snip> The "-L" is being dropped from the "official" list name. This means the "from" address your mailing list emails come from will be slightly different- ListName@rootsweb.com vs. the current ListName-L@rootsweb.com. You may have to adjust your spam filters or put the new address on your "accept" list to prevent it from being caught in your "junk" folder. <snip> AOL users have reported some problems with receiving mail in a timely matter and you can find additional information about this by subscribing to the support group AOLers-RootsWeb Mailing List or simply reading through the list archives. http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/RootsWeb_Support/AOLers-RootsWeb.html You will be able to send mail with or without the "-L" ALSO: subscribers who subscribe in both the list and digest modes using the same email address will no longer be able to do so. You may still subscribe to both but you will need to use two email address. You can always use a free Internet account such as hotmail, yahoo or gmail. I have a few gmail invites left for anyone who would like one. Any questions just email me at jasche45133@gmail.com

    1. Re: [KYKENTON] birth records
    2. Dear Kathleen, I am pretty sure Kenton Co., Ky courthouse does not have birth records that far back, if they do, then possibly they are spotty like many other counties in the country were during that time. You need to look at Census records 1860 before they were born to see if parents or siblings are listed; after they were born 1870 census to find your person with their parents/guardian's, 1880 Census, and most importantly the 1900 Census which gives a wealth of information. I hope this helps. Eastern Standard Time, decdeb17@bellsouth.net writes: Hi Charlotte, If you go thru the gate on the right side of the church and continue back you will come to a door with an instruction sign on it. If I remember correctly, you push a button and you can go in and walk around the inside of the sanctuary. When we were there the organist was practicing for the Sunday Mass, it was wonderful. You might try calling the church office before you go to see if these instructions are still in use. I am from Covington as well and I have many fond memories of that church block from when I was a little girl. My Great Uncle Edward Klosterman was the pastor at the Church for about 40 years. He is buried in the floor of the Church. It was the Catholic Church for the Germans in the early years. They do have a website. I have gone to Church there a few times in the recent years and it is still beautiful. My Great Grandfather, Grandfather, father and myself were all baptized at Mother of God. Debi Snow Debi, Thank you, yes it is so beautiful. I have been to Covington so many times and I had never seen the church till a few weeks ago, and I was trying to find my way back to the interstate after I left the library, and that is when I saw it. The next time I go there, I am going to park and take some pictures of it.
