    3. Hello Rose, I copied this from a site that explains various cemetery inscriptions. "The Daughters of Rebekah (DR) are a female auxiliary of the International Order of Odd Fellows. The Rebekah Degree was first established in 1851 and there are separate Rebekah lodges today." Here's the site if you want to check it out: http://cemeteries.wordpress.com/2006/08/29/daughters-of-rebekah/ Hope this helps! 3. Renee, My g-grandmother's name was Mattie Lyle Payne and she was from Crab Orchard, KY. She never liked the name Mattie and went by Martha for most of her life. She divorced him after bearing two children, Robert Edwin Tanner, Jr., and Mary Elizabeth Tanner. I have virtually no information about him other than his name so I can't tell you if he remarried or had any other children. Does that help? Robert

    2. The Werth Family
    3. Hi, I think I have found your Robert Edwin Tanner. I first found him in the WWI Draft Registration and would be happy to send you that image if you would like. It lists his closest relative as a Shelly or Shelby Tanner and the address listed is Florence, Boone County, Kentucky. I have also found a Robert E. Tanner and wife Shellie in the 1900 Florence, Boone County, Kentucky Census. The 1910 shows them living still in Florence and Shellie had 1 child but none living. 1920 shows this Robert and Shelley in the same place and with no children. So now I don't think this is your Robert! In the 1930 census there is a Robert and Nannie that live in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. They have a number of children including a son named Charles. What was your great grandfather's wife's name? Sincerely, Renee Werth Hello I am a new member to this list and I am researching my g-gfather, Robert Edwin Tanner. I have no information on his birth date but it would be circa 1880. He had a brother named Charlie and a sister called "Mame" but I don't Know if that was her given name. I also don't know if there were Other siblings. I have no information on his parents. I have been told that the family farm was on the current site of the Cincinnati airport and that Charlie was the one who sold the farm for That purpose; however, I have no proof of that claim. Any information is greatly appreciated! 3. Greetings Robert Though I have no connections to the Tanner surname except that my sister is married to an AYLOR, which is an associated line to the TANNER'S. My B-I-L is Clyde Aylor and his grandfather was a TANNER. You would do better to search BOONE COUNTY for your information since the Tanner family was one of the founding families of Florence, Ky. They came into Boone County from Virginia and founded the Hopeful Lutheran Church. If you GOOGLE Hopeful Church Boone County, Ky. you will find some histories with associated surnames. I believe that Epherin (sp?) Tanner was one of the founders. He was married to Susanna House. These families also founded other Lutheran churches in Boone County including the Hebron church, which by the way, is where the airport is located. Hope this helps. 1. [KYKENTON] DAHMEN/DAMEN and MEESE
    2. Hello, All; I'm trying to establish more information about my husband's great-grandfather possibly by this connection. In September of 1854, Johan Phillip Borgelt returned (from Cincinnati) to Germany to be married. On the same day, another couple married in the same place. The groom was listed also as being "from Cincinnati". The couple was entered in the marriage record as Johann Wilhelm DAHMEN and Francisca Wilhelmina KEMPER. With some effort, I have put together the following information which appears to be the same couple. 1860 census in Cincinnati shows Francisca DAMEN age 33 b. Prussia (husband is in the household, but his name is not clear) Children were Francisca age 4, Anthony age 3 and William age 4 (weeks?). I cannot find any of them in 1870 (nor can I find my husband's great-grandfather in that census). in the 1880 census, still in Cincinnati, I find Franzika age 54 b. Pru. widowed. Only other in the household is daughter Franziska Damen, single, age 24. There is a burial record for Francisca DAMEN in 1885 age 59, from Old St. Mary's in Cincinnati. In 1887, Francisca DAMEN married Johan MEESE also at St. Mary's. Now -- it appears that Francisca may have become "Frances" in later records, married to "John" MEESE and they lived in Covington in 1900 (sp.Meise) and 1910. Children wre Joseph, Hermann, Clara, Fred, Alois. There may have been others. Would like to share any information about this family. As far as I know, we have no relationship, but I do have a copy of the 1854 marriage record for any DAHMEN decendant who might be interested. Best wishes, Ann Bergelt Florida

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BBB.2ACI/2040.2 Message Board Post: I once posted a message like yours, found a family member, and returned the picture to her. Because these messages stay online for years, I've gotten several requests for the same picture, and have had to keep the "family member's" name and e-mail to give to these people so they could get in touch with her, all the while explaining that I was not connected to the family. If this doesn't sound like something you'd like to do, then you may consider scanning the photo, and putting the image on the message board for anyone interested in the future, or giving it to Kenton Co. Historical society, so you can just refer them to the Historical society. Just a suggestion.
