I'm searching for an ancestor that supposedly lived on the waterfront in Covington in 1860, and I'm trying to determine which district(s) that would have been, because we are not sure on her full name. Looking for information on Fountain Young B 1815 in Kenton or Campbell County. He had a farm in Independence, KY. Any information will be greatly appreciated especially his parentage.
I use the search engine on www.ancestry.com and narrow down to 1860 and County and use the first name only. Many misspelling are there for borth surnames and given names. That helps narrow it down. Yes I have found the answers with initials and given names that way. Good luck Teresa.
Teresa, I looked up Sterns in the Kenton County Library newspaper index and the only Sterns it shows during that time frame is Martin Sterns (an Early Settler from Germany it said)who died...if I remember correctly ...in 1874 and his funeral was at St. Boniface in Ludlow. There is also a mention in the paper the next year that his wife (I think it said her name was Mary) was going back to Germany. Debi
Thank you very much, to everyone who has responded to my Catholic church request. I have a lot of new leads. I am new to this list, and I can tell already, it is a great one! I have done this in the past for my Grieme relatives. I know you have contacted me separately about a possible connection with Albers relatives; my Albers attended St. James and St. Boniface in Ludlow. Also, the Kenton County library site is fabulous - it has a lot of St. James & Boniface records on there. On their genealogy page, select the database labeled geNKY (Northern KY Genealogy index) and you can pull up all sorts of things. The newspaper index is also fabulous. The man who staffs the genealogy area, Charles King, is WONDERFUL and fulfills all requests for copies within DAYS, several times giving me more than what I had requested. Hope this helps anyone!
