    2. Jacki Jonas
    3. Thanks, everyone. I have had email correspondence with the alumni association for Holmes High School and someone from the school itself. Apparently my grandfather doesn't appear in any of the yearbooks they can find. In the picture I have of my grandfather's name on the Honor Roll wall, there are two other names that were familiar to me: Milo S. Pitt and Nicholas A. Foltz. As it turns out, those two men are buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery where my grandfather is also buried. When I visited there the first time, I put flowers on the graves of all the Kenton County men that were buried there and took pictures. They are online at the Kenton County KYGenWeb site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kykenton/military.html. Related question: Does anyone have city directories for Covington or Independence for the 1930s or 1940s? From the 1930 census pages, it appears that they lived on 46th Street in Covington. Jacki

    3. Hee, hee -- thanks Bob. I had found those references before and did order copies. I can't put my hands on them right this minute, but I believe both were some sort of traffic offenses - an accident? One of the stories that has been handed down about my grandfather is his driving skills, or lack thereof. Apparently he wrecked several cars in one day :-) (probably fender-benders, but still....) 2. Jacki, if you want to check Holmes High School in Covington, KY, which is near Independence, they have an active alumni association. If you can estimate the year in which your relative graduated perhaps someone will have a list of graduates or even a yearbook. Try contacting them through www.holmeshighschoolalumni.org. Good luck! 1. Re: [KYKENTON] High schools
    2. Dear Jacki, I don't know if there is a yearbook available, but, the first Kenton County High School was located in Crescent Springs, Kentucky. After the Simon Kenton High School and the Dixie Heights High School were built, the school in Crescent Springs became an elementary school. You may contact the Kenton County School board offices at 859-344-8888 or the Kenton county library in Covington, Ky at 859-962-4060. The library has an active genealogy department. Good luck, Betty ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

    3. Hi listmates, I'm new to this list and have a few questions. My grandfather and his siblings lived in Independence KY in the 1920s-1940s, with some being there longer. Where would they have attended high school? I found the two youngest brothers in the 1941 Simon Kenton yearbook online, but I'm more interested in my grandfather. I have some pictures that are labeled "Holmes High School" wall of honor, I think it is (don't have it in front of me). My grandfather and his youngest brother were killed in WWII and their names were on that wall. So far, I haven't been successful in locating a yearbook that showed them (other than the one I mention above). I would really like to find out where he went to school and see what kind of activities he was involved with. I believe he was in the band, for example. My grandfather was Calvin Moon. Siblings: John, Charlotte (Lottie), Sarah, Carl, Clyde, and Buddy. Thanks for any help. Jacki
