Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BBB.2ACI/100.178.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Ann McCollum, daughter of James McCollum, married Silas Garrison: "GARRISON, Silas & Anna MCCOLLUM, 16 Oct. 1803, BD, m by MV [no date on return], b James McCollum, c by father James McCollum,, Campbell Co., KY" Ann Garrison was alive and well in 1850 in Jones Co., Iowa. So that means Ann McCollum who married William Grizzle was the widow of John McCollum unless you can come up with any more Ann McCollums. (I sure hope not!) Becky

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BBB.2ACI/100.178.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Do you know if John McCollum was related to James McCollum? How do you know that James had a daughter named Ann? Was she mentioned in his will? We can eliminate 2 of your Anns right away. Annie who married Elam Grizzle was too young and she was accounted for on the 1810 census. Ann, wife of Bryant Senour was not listed on the 1810 census. So she either died by then or the census taker just didn't list her on the census. Bryant was still alive in 1810 but I doubt he would have divorced Ann so she could marry William Grizzle. That leaves Ann, widow of John McCollum or Ann, daughter of James McCollum. Per the 1810 census Ann wife of William Grizzle was born before 1765. So if James McCollum was her father he would have been born before 1745. Do you know if he was that old? My vote is for Ann, widow of John McCollum. She was the right age and with her mentioned as a widow on the marriage record I feel that McCollum was her married name not her maiden name. But who knows at this point. Here is the marriage record for William and Ann: "GRIZZLE, William & Ann MCCULLUM, 16 Jan. 1806, m by GH, b James McCollum, Ann a widow, Campbell Co., KY" I don't know if Clarissa Ballenger was related to Kitty Ballenger. Clarissa was born abt. 1798 in Virginia and died between 1850-1858, probably in Kenton Co., KY. That is all I know about her. Becky

I have three Ann McCollum plus Anney McCollum who fit the time frame. The first of these is Ann the widow of John who died in 1797. This couple had a daughter Ann who was married to Bryant Senour prior to 1797. The third Ann McCollum is the one married to William Grizzle. I do not have the note from the marriage bond indicating this Ann to be a widow. However, the bond maker was James McCollum. I have this James McCollum as having a daughter, Ann, and being the one married to William Grizzle. This James McCollum died about 1821 (probate). You say Elam's second wife was Clarissa Ballenger. Was she perhaps the sister to Kitty Ballenger wife of James Marshall. I am missing the 1810 census but show no Ann McCollum as head of household.

Surnames: Grizzle, McCollum Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BBB.2ACI/100.178.1.1 Message Board Post: Herman, Elam's 1st wife was Annie McCollum, daughter of John and Sarah McCollum, by whom he had at least 9 children. His 2nd wife was Clarissa (Claressy) Ballenger. They are listed on the 1850 census for Kenton Co., KY. If they had any children, they did not live to adulthood. He married 3rd, Elizabeth Forbes with whom he had at least one child, Jeremiah. Regarding the marriage of William Grizzle and Ann McCollum, since the marriage record says Ann was a widow, I was under the impression that McCollum was her married name and that James Mc Collum was a relative of her deceased husband. Do you have proof that McCollum was Ann's maiden name and that James was her father? Also, I don't know the relationship of William Grizzle to Elam Grizzle. Supposedly Elam's father died when he was a young boy and he was raised by a family named Hampton. So William was an Uncle, Grand-Uncle, a Cousin??? Regards, Becky Griswold

Marriage 11/15/1868 In Kenton County, KY Frank Kiesewetter, resident of Cincinnati, age 38, merchant, born Austria married Catharine Miehel, res. of Kenton, age 26, born Prussia. How does a person living out West access the actual marriage record? What I'm really wanting to know is if the actual record says WHERE in Austria Frank Kieswetter was born. Thank you so much for your help! Linda Rawles Nevada

Is there a part of the 1860 missing for Covington, KY? I cannot find my Lloyd family. David Lloyd b. 1832 m. Mary Ann Jones b. 1830. I don't know if they married in KY, OH, or IN. David's family immigrated to the US in 1847. They lived in Portsmouth,OH. His parents both died on the same day, along with a younger brother age 4 in June 1849 of cholera. The remaining children were now on their own. David is in the home of his older brother in 1850 in Portsmouth. David must have m. about 1854. His oldest child, Ann Jennie Lloyd, is born Sept. 1855 in KY. Second child, Charles Lloyd is b. about 1858 in OH. Third child (my ggrandfather), David W. Lloyd is b. Dec 1861 in Covington, KY. I do not have any record of this, only word of mouth family history and his obituary. The remaining children beginning about 1867 are all b. in New Albany, IN which is where the family remained until their deaths. The 1870 census finds the family in New Albany, IN. I cannot find them anywhere in the 1860 census. Any suggestions or help? Are there records of births in 1861 in Covington? David worked as a roller in the rolling mills. Thanks.
