KY & Names Bud, The Mankins are a collateral line that I have only recently become aware of and have not researched much. I am interested because of the many references I have run across about this family and the history of the opening and settling of KY. I am related thru the wife of Peter Mankins b. ca 1750-1770, m. Rachel Bracken 23 Sep 1803. Rachel descends from two Wilmington, Delaware families, the Brackens and the Stalcups. These families are related or closely connected to my Lewis and Osburn ancestors. In fact, Rachel's mother, Rachel STALCUP, m. second Zachariah Lewis to whom I know I am related. The fact that both Peter and Rachel were also in Orange Co., NC at the time of their marriage, and later moved to Washington Co., AR, further piques my interest as most of my ancestors on my mothers side made similar moves VA/MD to NC and/of KY, then OH, IN, IL and finally AR. I expect that if I peel the Mankins leaf I will find the connections I suspect. Peter and Rachel had the following children whom I know nothing of, but assume some or most we in Washington Co. AR as some time: John Bracken Mankins Walter Mankins William Mankins Edith Mankins Henry Mankins Peter Mankins Samuel C. Mankins Millie Mankins Rachel Mankins Elizabeth Mankins Sarah Mankins By the way, I can't recall, are you related to Cornelius L. "Tuke" or "Toots" Blevins, b. 1890, d. 1980, m. Sarah Melissa "Lissie" Henson b. 1899, d. 1983? If you are, I recently came into possession of a news clipping describing their 70th weddin anniversary party together with a photo of the two of them. Both were born in AR, lived there, and later moved to OK. I would be happy to send you a copy of the scanned file if you are interested. Sarah was my Great Great Aunt, sister to my Great Grandmother, Maudy Frances Henson, and daughter of my GG Grandfather, Jesse Henson, Jr., also of Washington Co., AR. If you aren't, perhaps there is a Blevins researcher out there who is interested?? KY & Names Bill Mattheis: We've corresponded before, but I never noticed until now that you have Mankins in your family. It's a sideline of mine that I've worked on some, but not enough. I have a John Henry Mankins married to a Sarah Ann Payne, but don't know when nor where. I have a listing of their kids, but their oldest, Bonnie Mankins was born 1904 at Harrison, Arkansas. The family was in Lincoln County, Oklahoma at least by 1921 as that is when Bonnie married my mom's Uncle George Harrison Rust. Do you happen to have this family in your records?
