Julie, it's my great-grandfather, John F. Davis. (Davis is almost as bad a name to look for as Smith and Jones!) But no connection to Eastern KY. As best I can tell, the family came from NC, through TN and into MO. I pick them up in Leavenworth Co, KS in 1860; at least John and his mother, Sarah. I'll find him yet, I'm not giving up.
