    3. "GET BACK TO GENEALOGY"????? Discussion of cemeteries IS very much genealogy. WHINING about the conditions of cemeteries while sitting around waiting for someone else to do something about it is not. I have been organizing cemetery cleanup projects for the past two years in Johnson County. Seems everyone is quick to point out which cemeteries are in need of some TLC but when asked to volunteer to help clean it, no one has the time or gumption. You do not have to be famous to make a difference and a letter to Loretta Lynn's manager is certainly not a solution to the problem. And just for the record, the cemetery should be an historical site due to the age of the cemetery, not because it bears the ancestors of Loretta and Crystal. If that be the case, then so should the cemetery where Richard Thomas' grandparents are laid to rest. One of the reasons there are so many deteriorating cemeteries is because everyone waits for someone else to come along and do something about it. The media is not the answer for an overgrown cemetery. Gardening tools, rakes, chainsaws, weedkiller and a few interested people is all it takes to beautify a forgotten cemetery. Trust me on this one folks, I have spent many hours laboring in overgrown cemeteries. My proposal to this list is this....all those interested in getting the Butcher-Webb cemetery back to its original state contact me by private e-mail and we will get a crew together. If not, then the debate stops here. Ann Lemaster-Applegate Johnson CO. List Owner
