Folks, This is one of the hardest postings I have ever sent to this list. I am feeling 517 emotions all at once right now so please bear with me if I begin to ramble. I received an e-mail from a good friend of mine, which isn't unusual since we try to correspond several times a week. I hadn't heard from my friend in a while but I was thinking it was due to all the hours I have been working lately plus the fact that my sever has been very unreliable in the past several weeks. I was wrong. My friend has been in the hospital. Thinking it was pneumonia, my friend went to the doctor and was put in the hospital for testing. Turns out, it was not pneumonia at all but lung cancer. Inoperable lung cancer. It is very bad and the doctors have said that, depending on the chemo, my friend may have one or two years left. Ok, you may be asking why I have chosen to post this to the list and I am prepared to give you an answer. My friend is a member of this list. Yes, ONE OF US!!!! I will not disclose a name at this time and am trying to word this very carefully so as not to give away gender. Actually, my friend doesn't even know that I am posting this and wont know until they read it along with all of you. This friend has made contributions to the Johnson County Cemetery Cleanup Project, as well as for the digital camera. Also, has provided info on family lines to many of us and always has given me encouragement when trouble occurred on this list. I am asking each of you that believe in the healing power of prayer to pray for my friend, who is also a friend to each of us on this list. God has the power to take the cancer away and provide my friend with a long healthy life and that is my prayer. I know I am being selfish, but I do not want to give my friend up. I am praying for a miracle and hope that you will join me in this prayer. I know that more than likely someone will scold me for this posting saying it is not genealogy, but that is fine. I am prepared for that also. But I will say that anyone who challenges this posting has no heart. This is directly affecting one of us on the list and we need to join together and show support. Thanks, Ann
I hope that we do not see any posting from someone complaining about your note regarding your friend in the hospital. I firmly believe that prayer does make a difference and the more people we can get to join us in that, the better it will be. As many have said before, genealogy is not just dates and names. It is about people and if we don't care about each other, what is the point? Thank you for letting us know. Please let us know how he/she progresses. Ann, I am really glad that you posted this. And, I would like to add a note for this person. Please know that I am asking for God to put His blanket of comfort around you and your family during this trying time. Just hang in there because you have a whole bunch of "cousins" out here pulling for you. I have roots in your county too, and even if I didn't , I too, believe in the power of prayer, so my prayers have gone out for your friend too. Ann, Sending prayers for your friend and family. Ann: Please inform your friend that many prayers are going out for him/her?? May God put his understanding and healing hands on your friend and cure them quickly. Also, don't worry about complaints of the posting to this list. I don't know a better way to reach many, and yes prayer does change things. Gordon R. Ann, As you may recall, back in September, my son was not expected to live. Due to the prayers of many good people and a lot of faith he is doing pretty well now. My heart and prayers go out to your friend. jo
Will certainly remember your friend in prayer. It is so good to see people coming together to offer their prayers and showing that our Faith in God is still there. so many times we forget God' s blessings and his help in helping us in a crisis. i think it is great you have brought this request to our attention.
Ann, My prayers are with your friend! Rose
