Martha Jane Smiley married William Bates abt. 1882, place unknown. They had a daughter named Lathana(Thana or Thany)Bates. William died somewhere in VA. Martha then married John Vencil February 25, 1886 in Knott Co., KY. Martha and John lived in Johnson County. I am having a very hard time finding any info on Martha.
