Hello Mary, I am interested in your finding some one named L.P.A. Preston buried at Thelma, Ky. Just where is Thelma, KY in relation to George's Creek? My grand mother Maggie Ellen Preston Justice's father was named Lewis Patrick Allen Preston. He was born 19 Feb 1845 and died 8 Dec 1904 and is buried at Milo, KY in the Preston Family cemetery . He was born on George's Creek in Lawrence County. From looking at my family tree documentation, he was a son of John Preston b. abt 1813 on Georges Creek and Elizabeth Fitzpatrick. And, John was a son of Issac Preston b. about 1784 in Bedford County, VA and Mary Sloan who were married in Floyd County, KY 1 Feb 1812. I am sure there is a connection between the two L.P.A. Prestons. Most likely an uncle to my great grandfather. ( I am not too sure that the A. did stand for Allen, it may have stood for Arthur) He always signed everything L.P.A. Preston. And, he had uncles named Lewis, Patrick and Arthur. I would be most interested if anyone can shed some light here. Best Regards. Tom, I am not sure as I am just a Michigander and had my first, but not last visit to KY last year. If I am right I think it is right outside Paintsville. On the little cemetery map I have I show a Welch cemetery off 1145 . past the railroad tracks. Mary Welch Kazee lives on the old Welch Farm. I have that as 1716 Ky Rte 1145. It is before the Wheeler Cemetery and Paintsville golf course. Does that help at all?
