Kayleene and Chris, Thank you so much for supplying me with this information!!! I also do lookups for other people so I appreciate the gesture and the time you spent on it. The reason I am interested in the surname of PATRICK is because I am helping someone else with theirs and I am trying to find out the parentage of one Eviline (i.e. Emaline or Lavina and now possibly Ella) HAMILTON (RICE). I first find Eviline (her last name is supposed to be HAMILTON (RICE) in the 1850 Floyd County Census in household# 636 with Samuel Rice and Jane Patrick. Jane is too young to be Eviline's mother. Eviline had a daughter Josephine in or around 1859; before 1860 so she should be listed with Eviline (various spellings) in one of these census records starting with 1860. Josephine married Johisa (various spellings such as Jehisey) COLVIN March 18, 1874 in Johnson County. Josephine is shown in a family bible as the daughter of Melvina Hamilton Rice. Melvina Hamilton Rice married Absolum Conley on 1-12-1861. I am trying to establish just who Melvina Hamilton Rice is and who her parents were so that I can "track" her whereabouts before she married Absolum Conley. There seems to be two women in Johnson County that may be being confused with one another as per the following information: In the Johnson County Birth Records: Albert COLVIN b. 8-6-1875, s/o Johisa COLVIN and Josephine RICE. Father born in Johnson County; mother born in Owsley County. (This is correct information) Sarah COLVIN b. 4-22-1878, d/o Johisa COLVIN and Josephine RICE. (correct) The following leads me to believe there's another woman in Johnson County who is being confused with the Melvina RICE I am searching for: Johnson County Death: Perlina Conley: Age 65 yrs. Female. Married. Died 1-8-1878 of Consumption. Parents: Absolum Conley and Melvina Conley. AND the following record: 1) Susannah H. Conley b. 11-13-1861; d/o Absolum Conley and Lavina Hamilton. Both parents born in Floyd County. 2) Lydia M. Conley b. 8-(left blank)-1875; d/o Abner Conley and Melvina Hamilton. Father born in Va. and Mother born in Owsley County, Ky. Melvina is supposed to have been born in either Owsley or Lee County. I found the following in the 1850 ESTILL County Census: Household# 823 Lewis D. Hamilton 45 Elizabeth Hamilton 34 Thomas J. Hamilton 11 EMALINE HAMILTON 9 John F. Hamilton 7 Malinda Hamilton 5 Elizabeth Hamilton 3 James L. Hamilton 1 If I go by the 1880 Johnson County Census with the ages this would not coincide with the "right Emaline" but I also have seen a lot of errors where years were added on to their stated ages. I have not found a record of marriage for a Melvina (or Elvina, Lavina, Emiline) Hamilton and and Rice. The only marriage I find is that of her and Absolum Conley. A lot of his family lived in Floyd County. I did find another marriage for Absolum Conley to a Cynthia Ann Jaynes on 12-8-1854 and he is stated as being 19 yrs old at this time. Now for the PATRICK surname: First, as I stated earlier, I found a Eviline (Rice?) listed in household# 636 with Samuel and Jane Patrick Rice in Floyd County in 1850. The parents of Greenville PATRICK are listed in household# 627 as follows: William Patrick 56 s/o William and Mollie Raines Patrick Nancy 48 d/o Archibald Prater..they were married on 4-8-1816 in Floyd County Greenville 26 m. Eveline Rice Robert 20 Mary 11 Rebecca 7 In 1860 Magoffin County Census: Household# 377 Greenville Patrick 35 Eveline (Rice) 24 (Ell could be short for Eveline) Samuel H. 4 Sarah 1 According to documents I found (have to pay for) in Ancestry.com Greenville Patrick is found in the following: 1850 Floyd County 1860 Magoffin County 1870 Johnson County 1890 Lawrence County Listed in the 1870 Magoffin Census (this book just arrived today!) Household# 99 Green Patrick 45 Evaline (Rice) 37 Huston 14 Sarah 11 Smith 1 Okay, I did find a Greenville Patrick listed in the 1880 Magoffin County Census: Household# 160 Greenville Patrick 54 (which would coincide with his stated age) Widow Sarah 21 Smith 11 Nancy 7 So, I hope I have explained my dilemma thoroughly and hope someone on this list can provide me with the information I seek. Maybe I have been on this computer too long! :-) As I mentioned earlier, I also do lookups for people.
