PREMIER ONLINE-FIRST PROJECT Our Goals as "The Johnson County Historical Society Website" is to "PRESERVE & DOCUMENT" History of the past as well as the present. As we enter the 21st century, along with the computer age, our endeavors are also to give those interested in Johnson County Ky data a "PREMIER WEBSITE" in which some of this history "PAST & PRESENT" can be obtained by those Interested. One of the "Newest" Online Projects at this time, has been entering over 130 of the "JOHNSON COUNTY KY" Cemeteries online, in an effort to help those with connections to the Johnson County area. (more to come) The Second Step to the "CEMETERIES PROJECT" is to "PHOTOGRAPH" the "HEADSTONES" (for as many as possible) listed cemeteries and "LINK" them to the respected burials. (many of these are already lost to time) The Third and very important (we feel) online (only) step we are involved with at this time, are "OBITUARIES" of burials in our "CEMETERY PROJECT". With the much needed cooperation of The Paintsville Herald and it's staff, we have obtained their permission to post related only, "OBITUARIES" on the Historical Society Website. (Please remember that this copyrighted material and all rights are reserved to the Paintsville Herald) If one person is helped by our online site, then we feel our website is worth the efforts that are being put forth to make it what we hope it to become, an informative well documented website. Visit the Johnson County Historical Society Website and let us know what you think of this Cemetery Project, by signing the guestbook or dropping an e-mail our way.. Just scroll down and click on "CEMETERY INDEX" after you get there try the "PATTY FLAT" cemetery as it is one that we have documented the best so far in this new style. http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyjchs/johnson.html (more being added daily) Always "REMEMBER" that your heritage may be a part of this site and more "INPUT" makes a better "OUTPUT", so if you have information or data related to Johnson County we would Love to have it.
