    2. Bonnie, If a Veteran does not have a legible gravestone, the U.S. Government will provide you a stone free of charge. It usually takes about 6 months to get the stone after ordering, and it will be delivered to you. These granite stones weigh around 240 lbs. It would be up to whomever ordered the stone to get it set. There is not much expense in that, just one bag of concrete mix and then getting the grave stone to the cemetery and setting the stone. The location of some of these cemeteries can sometiome make that difficult. I live in Pickaway County, in Ohio, where I belong to an organization that preserves and rebuilds, cemeteries where veterans are buried. We have ordered many for veterans of the Rev. War, War of 1812 and the Civil War. Don M. My gggggrandfather Thomas Wiley (husband of Jenny) was in both Dunmore's War in 1774 and in the Revolutionary War in 1777 and 1778. He is buried not far from Jenny's grave, and his grave has never been marked. Ed Hazelett knows the location, and knows the farmer where the grave is located, but the area isn't very accessible, even to 4 wheel drives. Members of the Jenny Wiley Association have contributed money for a marker, and it was also suggested that perhaps the Veteran's Affairs Office could help in funding. However, with the death of Betty Hazelett, I don't know if the JWA will continue. The documents about Thomas's Rev. War and Dunmore's War records, and the VA Papers relating Jenny's captivity and escape are at the Mountain Home Place in Staffordsville. If you would like copies of the documents for the Floyd County Historical and Genealogical Society, please contact me and I will send them to you.
