    3. It has been over a year since I listed my Slone brickwall and hopefully some of you Slone researchers have additional information to share. Harkman and his wife, Mary, moved from Scott Co., Va. about 1866. His family as seen in the Johnson Co., Ky, 1870 U.S. Census: 1870 Johnson County Ky Census 61/74 Hoods Fork Prec Sloane, Harkman 59 Va br 1811 Farmer Mary J. 30 Va 1840 Housekeeping John M. 23 Va 1847 Work on farm Thomas 15 Va 1855 Work on farm William H. 12 Va 1858 Nancy J. 11 Va 1859 Caroline 5 Va 1865 (Mother Mary Jane Green per Nancy Stockert, Caroline's ggranddaughter)) Serena F. 3 Ky 1867 Emely E. Slone was born about 1871. . Charles Wesley Slone was born Jun 1874. He is either the son of Harkman or his son Thomas. Charles “Wes” Slone is my Grandfather. Johnson Co Vital Statistics - Pg 129 - Deaths Harkman Slone - 66 Md - Farmer - b Va - d. 14 Dec 1875 Consumption - parents unknown After Harkman's death the family completely scattered. Mary moved in with James, John A.'s son. John M. moved to Lawrence Co., Thomas is lost. Caroline went to live Harkman's brother John Albert. Emely was adopted by Joshua Bayes. Charles Wesly when to live with John M. 1880 U.S. Census -Lawrence Co Ky: Hood Fork 89/90 Slone, M. John 33 Head Va Va Va Charlotte 33 Wife Nc Nc Nc Charles 9 Son Ky Va Nc Dorthalia 4 Dau Ky Va Nc W. Charles 5 Brother Ky Va Va This 1880 Census would indicate that Charles was John's brother and Harkman's son, however family history indicates that Charles "Wes" Slone was Thomas' son.
