    3. Well, Anna Jewell was an aunt of mine which I never knew. This was a big controversy with our family for many years because of the obituary given of Anna Jewell. Know one knows who placed it in the paper, but it wasn't anyone from her side of the family. There was never a third child or a birth / death certificate for a third child? I guess spousal abuse was more common then due to the lack of laws to protect the victims, being mostly women at that time. I have often wondered what happen to Ova Lee, but can't seem to find anything on him for my records and of course it is still a sensitive subject to by uncles and my father do I don't ask. Would appreciate anything you would be willing to share so I can have that family completed. Thanks in Advance -----Original Message----- From: Patricia J. 1. Re: [KYJOHNSON] Re: Veterans
    2. Bonnie, If a Veteran does not have a legible gravestone, the U.S. Government will provide you a stone free of charge. It usually takes about 6 months to get the stone after ordering, and it will be delivered to you. These granite stones weigh around 240 lbs. It would be up to whomever ordered the stone to get it set. There is not much expense in that, just one bag of concrete mix and then getting the grave stone to the cemetery and setting the stone. The location of some of these cemeteries can sometiome make that difficult. I live in Pickaway County, in Ohio, where I belong to an organization that preserves and rebuilds, cemeteries where veterans are buried. We have ordered many for veterans of the Rev. War, War of 1812 and the Civil War. Don M. My gggggrandfather Thomas Wiley (husband of Jenny) was in both Dunmore's War in 1774 and in the Revolutionary War in 1777 and 1778. He is buried not far from Jenny's grave, and his grave has never been marked. Ed Hazelett knows the location, and knows the farmer where the grave is located, but the area isn't very accessible, even to 4 wheel drives. Members of the Jenny Wiley Association have contributed money for a marker, and it was also suggested that perhaps the Veteran's Affairs Office could help in funding. However, with the death of Betty Hazelett, I don't know if the JWA will continue. The documents about Thomas's Rev. War and Dunmore's War records, and the VA Papers relating Jenny's captivity and escape are at the Mountain Home Place in Staffordsville. If you would like copies of the documents for the Floyd County Historical and Genealogical Society, please contact me and I will send them to you. 3. Could someone tell me about this veterans book? I must have missed something. :-) When will it be available to order? I have two cousins from Floyd Co who were KIA in WWII and the Korean War. Walter Karr Boling is on the Arizona, and Thomas Boling was the first Floyd Countian to be killed in Korea. They were brothers, the sons of Walter K Boling Sr and Frances O'dell Boling. Walter Sr was the son of my Grandfather Horatio Seymour Boling and Sarah Blevins Boling. christine On Sat, 23 Apr 2005 09:32:36 -0500 Bonnie Wiley <bjwiley@geneseo.net> writes: > Hi Bobby, > Will the book on veterans also include veterans of the > Revolutionary > War? 3. These records are not correct on the death of Anna Jewell. Her death was contributed to a collapsed lung which had developed into pneumonia from a blow to midst of her back from a large hair oil bottle from her husband, Ova Lee on one of his many nights of being drunk and abusive. -----Original Message----- From: Libby Preston [mailto:lpreston@neo.rr.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 13, 2005 11:00 PM To: KYJOHNSO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [KYJOHNSON] Ova Lee Vanhoose Bill: I show that he married Anna Jewell Grimm.
