Am looking for information on a murder said to have occurred in Johnson Co. I believe that the mans name was Castle or Cassel. He was said to be murdered by a James Welch. This was said to have happened before 1870 but after 1868. I have looked all over for info. Can anyone give me an idea as to where I can find info. It was said that James was sent to prison. Where would he have gone? Thanks for all your help. Mary

While we're on the Castles, I want to check with everyone something that I found on the LDS website. It lists the children of Benjamin (1785-1864) and Elizabeth Castle as follows: 1. Zachariah 2. Johial 3. Patterson 4. Loudema 5. Ira 6. Drewry 7. Drucilla 8. Miles Harper 9. Marcum 10. Emeritta 11. Madison 12. Eveline Child number 7, Drucilla, is my line. Does anyone have any further information to share on this family, or can anyone verify what the LDS site has? I assume that the Johial Castle mentioned in the earlier message is the same one on this list of children, but I could be wrong. Was SALYERS the maiden name of Elizabeth, wife of the above Benjamin Castle? I'm just starting to work on this line, so everyone pardon my ignorance! I can share descendants of Drucilla Castle and James B. Daniel, if anyone would like that information. Also, the LDS site lists Jacob Castle and Mary Shane as parents of Benjamin Castle. Can anyone else back that up? Thanks everyone! It is almost that time of year for the Apple Day celebration in Paintsville. This years event will begin September 27, 1999 with the last and biggest day being October 2, 1999. If you have never been to Apple Day before, folks, I really encourage you to try your best to attend. It is a grand event. Saturday is the best (at least I think so) day to attend if you only have one day. There is always a HUGE parade on Saturday. There are carnival rides, food booths galore, the making of apple butter, and there is always a country music concert featuring some of Nashville's hottest stars. I will try to see who will be there this year and post it at a later date. I remember one particular Apple Day many years ago. I was probably 10 or 11 years old. I got to walk down the street with Loretta Lynn. She and Conway Twitty were doing a concert later that night. She had been in WSIP radio station doing an interview and I just happened to be walking by when she came out. Talk about memories. The next day she and Conway rode on the back of a convertible in the parade. Ok..sorry to have gotten lost in memory lane... I will keep you all posted on Apple Day 99. If anyone needs names of hotels, etc. please let me know. Ann Johnson CO. List Owner

Ann: Thanks for writing. I went to the one across the road from the old Franks Creek Church (not a church anymore). There was a steep road, but driveable to the well cared for cemetery. I didn't realize there was another "branch" of Frank's Creek. Snakes should all be gone to bed by November. I hope you do have or can get a picture of Lewis and Anna's graves. And possibly thier daughter Lucinda Lemaster Caudle or Cordial is buried there, too. And even possible again, Lucinda's daughter Cynthiann Caudle/Cordial. My fingers are crossed and prayers being said. Thanks again. You're great. Bud Caudle
Bud, This is purely an educated guess at the moment but my feeling is that Lewis and Anna are buried in the old Lemaster Cemetery on Frank's Creek. I assume this because that is the burial grounds for Lewis' father, big Frank. Alot of the family are buried there. This is a good size cemetery that few people have knowledge of the whereabouts. It took about three months of asking before I finally found it. Faith and I made the trek to the cemetery a year ago this past July. Man what a climb!!! I photographed most of the cemetery but didn't venture to the back part for fear of meeting up with a snake. I vowed to go back that winter to finish up but thoughts of that climb put the project on the back burner. I will definitely be going back around November of this year. I will look through the photos that I do have to see if Lewis and Anna have already been recorded. Cross your fingers! Ann
Thanks. Just a stab in the dark about someone I had wondered about. Bud
Bud All of the Musics that I have been dealing with are not my direct lines, they seem to be second wifes or marry brothers or sisters of my direct line. sorry, the Music that you discribed doesn't fit anything that I have. Kayleene

Faith: Beautiful set up and great pictures. Thanks for sharing. You mention and show a picture of your gr gr grandparents home on Frank's Creek. That makes me believe your family was fairly close to Lewis and Anna Salyer Lemaster. Am I correct? If so, do you know if there is more than one Lemaster and/or Salyer cemetery in the same general area? This past June, I visited the cemetery that can be driven to up the side of a hill across from the old Frank's Creek Church. I'm looking for the graves of Lewis and Anna and of their daughter Lucinda who married Wesley Thompson Cordial/Caudle. Possibly even their daughter Cynthia Ann who evidently died young - sometime past two years old. Please let me know if you have anything on these folks. Lewis and Anna were my gr gr grandparents.
