    2. I was intending to send a query asking what school might have been called "Normal" back in the early days when I rec'd the September edition of Highland Echo and my question was answered - John C.C. Mayo College! There is a group picture of Normalites taken in 1921. Does anyone know where I might find group pictures for later years? --Virginia Ward Hermes

    3. You do have it right Jim. James was born in 1805 in NC and did marry Isabelle who was b.1814 and d. 2-11-1850. Thomas was the mother. I can't find the mother tho. Thomas had a son Andrew also and daughter Nancy Anne aka Anna. She has been easy to trace as she has been listed as deaf and dumb. This line of Welch's is mine is if you have an other tidbits I'd love to hear them Mary ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Hawes <JimHawes@ix.netcom.com> To: <KYJOHNSO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 19, 1999 4:42 AM Subject: James WELCH m. Isabella Powers My read on the James Welch shown on the 1850 Johnson County, KY census is as follows. Based on census records, LDS and two online commercial genealogy sites: James Welch m. Isabella Powers in Russell County VA abt. 1827. Father of James Welch was Thomas Welch from North Carolina shown age 74 on the 1850 Russell County, VA census. Reaching a little, Thomas b. abt 1775-76 was the son of James Welch b. abt 1749-51 of NC and James was the son of yet another James most likely born in VA or one of the New England states. I would suggest searching first in Russell County, VA then back to NC. This is not my line but had a little time to spend on some look ups. 3. I did not feel as though I were being screamed at, I was pointing out net etiquette. I have had several complaints made to me by private e-mail about not being able to read postings in all caps. It does make for hard reading as does using no capitalization at all. I suggest only placing surnames in CAPS so that the search engine for this list's archives can easily pick them out. And so that it will be easier reading for all subscribers to the list. Ann
