Linda, Have you tried the Johnson Co libary? They sometimes have these books. Donna Hall
Well, I must say that although ther seems to be a lot of gracious and helpful people and we all have a common bond which is KY geneaolgy. The tension on this site and this site only has risen to a degree that is gettin gout of hand. I have no problem recieving messages if some one is sick and needs prayers or an occasional joke or two. There are days when the research gets time consuming and many times I am ready to just quit, but then I get on line and see workds of encouragement and go on with task at hand. And about sticking to one county isn't always that easy since our ancestors seemed to love to move around! Once again My family is Hall Murray Tackett Salyers Stapelton ect ect ect. SOme from Johnson County some moved on to other Counties and even States. I guess if you have info for me that pertains to these families tha tmoved on email me privately. Thanks you and have a wonderful afternoon. I know I won't now that this tensions has brought me down again! unsubscribe, I'm tired of the attitude on this site that doesn't exist on other sites. Take a few lessons from Russell County, Virginia. I appreciate bits of information that appears on different sites. Being a co-ordinator doesn't mean a dictator. I have heard many complaints from others. Please, you have done so much work to make this a great site, why ruin it with your unnecessary comments. You are dealing with adults, not children. -----Original Message----- From: Ann Lemaster- Applegate <annapplegate@maysvilleky.net> To: KYJOHNSO-L@rootsweb.com <KYJOHNSO-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, October 07, 1999 9:37 PM Subject: Once again >IF IT DOESN'T SPECIFICALLY PERTAIN TO JOHNSON COUNTY DO NOT POST IT TO THIS >LIST!!! >Do not forward postings from other lists. Can anyone tell me where I can buy a copy of the 1900, 1910, and 1920 Johnson County census? I have tried the book stores in Paintsville and Van Lear and they don't have them. Thanks, Linda > Any queries about Johnson County families, locations, books, etc. may be > posted here. > >

Hello, Yesterday someone posted a message that had a Cynthia Collins, born 1848 as I recall, in it. If someone still has that message, could they send me a copy, I accidentally deleted mine, and would like to look at it again. Thanks in advance Milton Crum
I just found an elusive ancestor in the 1880 Johnson Co., KY online census. Her name is Mary Viers and she is listed as doing housework in the family of William H. DAVIS, age 50 whose wife is Rebecca E., age 50 with a son named John Auxier Davis, age 19. Mary has her daughter Ora Etta with her (spelled Ariatta on the actual record) age 2. Ora Etta is my 2nd great grandmother. Mary was said to have had 5 children that she gave away to different families. If any Davis family researcher would have any information they could share with me about Mary Viers, I would greatly appreciate it. Mary is one of those very hard people to research because she may not have been married to the father or fathers of her children. I found two boys who may be Mary's sons living with the family of Samuel Clark age 33, whose wife is Susannah, age 33 with children Rosy, Morgan, Elizabeth, Leona, Genoa, Luther. The boys are listed as servants. Would any of you Clark researchers have any information about these Viers or Vires boys? Including any verbal history known of them. Also there is a Minta Viers age 18 doing housework in the home of William WELLS, age 52, whose wife is Mary M. age 50 with a daughter named Araminta age 20. If anyone would have any information about this Minta, I would greatly appreciate having it. I have not looked on the 1870 Census yet for the Viers. If anyone has that info and could give it to me I would truly enjoy it. Thank you for all your help! Sincerely, Wendy Forester wynkydynk@aol.com

To the list, maybe you have or have not seen this Website at rootsweb. If you haven't !! take a gander at it. http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi We can all help each other a little at this Website by using the new "ADD-POST-EM" it is a message board where you can leave a note about your family members or someone you know you have correct information on. I have been entering a little information on some of my family members, and maybe you would like to do the same.
