    3. Shirley, Do you know if she was first married to an Asa? I would love to see the actual court documentation and find out all the particulars on this case. I believe he lived in Johnson Co. at the time this occurred. Does anyone know the place where a murder trial would have taken place? How would I go about getting these records? I believe this murder would have taken place before 1870 as James is not listed in that census and his wife, Elizabeth Collins Welch was living with her mother Elizabeth Collins. Elijah was only a few months old at this census so he had to be around to father Elijah. I think the time frame would be between 1868 to early 1870. Any help or hints appreciated. 3. Sharon, I have checked both of my books...Vol.1 1843-1900 & Vol.2 1900-1920. And there is no record of a Dock Young. Maybe his name was something else ? There were several, several "Young"s " in both marriage books. If you can get another name or date or brides name, then I would be more than happy to look again. Sorry I couldn't help you more. 3. Mary Ann Thanks for the information. Tackett's are many but hard to find. I have a copy of the article that was in the TEK and am putting it on the Family Origins, to put here, so bear (hm) with me until I get it done. It is about Thomas Tackett and some of His Descendants. it appeared in a 1975 issue. A Thomas, John, Moses, Sherwood, Zereld, James W, etc.... Hope to get this done soon. I am trying to track the name Machell back. I also received from a gal in MT several years ago, a book she had put out on Thomas Tackett. Lots of information and have not sorted it out yet. 3. Candy, I will gladly send you out a check right away for $50.00 to get this started. The extra can go for coffee and doughnuts for you and your time or toward our next project. Has anyone thought that it would be a great community service to have the high school kids transcribe birth, death and misc. records onto the net. Here in Michigan in high school the kids must perform some type of community service in order to graduate. They do anything that may is good public relations or good for the area. The Johnson County Historical Society can perhaps approach the area high schools. Maybe someone in Johnson and Adjoining Co. would be able to check that out. They could work in teams. One to type and one to check the compiled data. It would be a great boon for all of us armchair researchers. I'd gladly donate to something like that and for a pizza party for the kids later.

    3. You can count on me as a CD purchaser for both Census at the price range quoted ($18 to $24). Provide a name and address and funds will follow. Bill Mattheis -----Original Message----- From: Candy Parent [mailto:candy@htonline.htonline.com] Sent: Sunday, October 10, 1999 9:13 PM To: KYJOHNSO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Johnson County Census I have a quote back census: "We estimate the 1900 Census at about 280 pages (about $210, at 75 cents per page), and the 1920 Census at about 400 pages (about $300). We will provide five copies of a CD at no additional cost. If you have more than five people who want to pool their resources, we will provide 10 additional copies of a CD at $5 each." If my calculations are correct, the total for 15 of us would be about $18 each for 1900 and $24.00 each for 1920. I sent a reply back and asked if more than 15 total CD's are available. Will keep everyone posted. According to the web site, these will be only useable by a PC with Windows 95 or better. The web site is http://www.skpub.com/genie/ if anyone would like to learn more about it. Let me know who is interested and if there are enough, I will coordinate the project. I will need money in advance in order to make the deposit. Then if the project is more or less, I would need more money or send refunds. You would also need to include the cost of postage since sending out 15 CD's to different people could get rather expensive.
