Dear fellow researchers, I have noticed that many, including myself, have hit many a brick wall. The Unsovled mysteries mail list is great. I presented my brick wall, a missing cousin that was the son of my Uncle Walter Welch from Johnson Co. During my research I found that Walter had married a Rachel Irene Hamilton. Further research said they had a son born 1955. Since all of the James Welch and Ethel Litton family are deceased I have been looking for this cousin. Members on this list have been great. We are very close to finding Walter Joseph Welch. When you are searching it is all worth a try. They also help research missing ancestors from long ago. the site is: GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES-L@rootsweb.com For those that are reseaching for coal mine information I have found the following very helpful. They talk of mines, accidents, and miners. I have learned alot from here also. Several Ky mines have been mentioned including info on mine accidents in 1909. Hope these help. Hi Bud, I live in Orlando Fl. And I would be more than happy to do what I could. Unfourtunatly I'm not sure what that could be. Orlando is a VERY big place. Have you thought about placing an add in the local newspaper here? The local newspaper is online http://www.orlandosentinel.com/index.htm along with radio stations ect. Here is a very popular website that can connect you to most of our places: http://www.insidecentralflorida.com/ I can tell you that Florida is VERY strict on child support and "maybe" your son could use that to his advantage by insisting on his right to see his children since Florida is "insisting" on his child support. The local agency who handles that would be called: Child Support Enforcment Agency, maybe see if you can find a phone# for them. The area code here is 407 I did call the local information operator and they did not find a phone# for a linda or lisa Caudle Hope this helps some, Sherry At 10:23 PM 10/27/99 EDT, you wrote: >This is not the type of letter that should be posted to a mailing list, but >it does have to do with family and genealogy. This is not the type of letter that should be posted to a mailing list, but it does have to do with family and genealogy. And I do have roots in all the counties that these lists cover. I beg you all to forgive me for posting this to the list. If I am barred from the list for misposting, I will have to accept that consequence. This evening is not a good time for me. I apologize for sounding like a cry baby, but maybe that is what I am. Do I have any friends/cousins out there who live in or near Orlando, Florida or who can give me suggestion on what to do? This evening marks five years since my son's wife Linda disappeared with their two children. They had lived with us for several years, so we were very close. Evidently, Mark and Linda were having troubles; he was drinking and she was doing drugs and running around on him. Linda accused Mark of beating her up and had him arrested. They took her and the kids to a shelter. Her tears smeared the "bruise" under her eye. She promised us they would be back at our house the next evening. We have not seen nor heard from them since. I don't know how other people would react to a situation like this, but it has broken my heart completely. I no longer am able to sleep or even concentrate. Perhaps I would be okay if I could at least find where they are for sure and maybe talk to them on the phone or receive a letter. Kevin Caudle was born February 13, 1987 but I'm sure he's at least two years behind in school. Susie Q Caudle was born April 15, 1989. Their mother is Linda Lisa Pittman Caudle unless she has remarried. Our son was never notified of a divorce though. My son did recently receive child support papers from Orlando, Florida, so I presume they are living there. Linda was born May 2, 1968. If any of you live there, could you please try to find her and ask that the kids be allowed to write me a letter or phone us collect. Our address is: Bud & Liz Caudle 1014 W. Mansur Guthrie, OK 73044 Telephone: 405-282-2398 At least, pray that the kids are okay and also for my mental and physical health. This is getting to me. Bud Caudle
The EKGS "Tree Shaker" editor is considering limiting the scope of the "Tree Shaker" to coverage of Boyd, Greenup and Lawrence counties. They'll still be glad to take your money but provide no coverage of the other counties that make up the Society. I have registered my concern with Mr. Epling without result, I fear. I would like to urge those who are members, read the publication at their local library or historical/genealogy society or LDS Family History center, etc. contact Mr. Epling and let him know their feelings - pro or con. His e-mail address is jlepling@wwd.net. Sincerely, Earl Earl B. Akers, Sr. Puyallup WA ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Ann, Sent you out about 2 1/2 dozen gloves and a monetary donation in the mail this a.m. Hope it helps. Gloves, some are regular cotton type, others are heavy duty,(kevlar) others still heavier with reinforced palms. Various sizes. Good luck. Bud, The address is; Ann Lemaster-Applegate 1715 Ash Street Maysville, KY 41056 I will be setting up a fund in Johnson County on my next trip there at one of the local banks. This will be an open fund account that can be deposited into at any time and will be used for the SOLE purpose of the Cemetery Projects. I have been heading up these projects for at least two years now. Ann
Thanks to those of you who gave me some great advice and easy directions to the Archives in Frankfort, KY!! Patty B.
You can hire the local Boy Scouts. My Dad hired them to clean up a family cemetery in IL. It gives them a chance to earn money for the troupe and badges. You would have to contact the local Scout leader and ask him.
Deanna, Donations for the Cemetery Clean Up Project can be sent to: Ann Lemaster-Applegate 1715 Ash Street Maysville, KY 41056 A listing of those that volunteer their time and of those making donations will be placed on the Johnson County Historical Society page and will be published in the Highland Echo. (The amount of the donation will remain confidential). Any funds left over from this project will be used to help finance the next cleanup project. Your help is greatly appreciated!! Ann
Ann: Can the list or you, or any representative of the list, preferably living in Johnson County, operate or manage a "cemetery project" fund for that specific purpose? I don't have much, but I could donate a little at a time for such a fund. If it were an ongoing fund, accepting donations at any time for working on any old cemetery in the county, workers wouldn't have to wait for donations before going to work. An occasional notice or request for donations could be made on the list to make sure the account had enough in it to help at all times. I've talked too much and said too little. Please keep the list notified. Of course, we need an address to which we can send the donations. Bud
