Don, This is Bill Reed, Betty's cousin on the Daniel side. She called me last night to tell me that her computer has crashed and that she has lost everything. It happened about 2 weeks ago and she finally found my number to tell me. She wants to hear from Libby Preston. I will be sending her all the data I have as soon as she gets a new one. But for now she needs Libby to notify all the mail lists not to be sending her emails until she is up and running again. Libby, if you get this message, then email me directly and I'll give you her number if you don't have it. Bill
I'm looking for a marriage record of William Boyd Short, married to Caroline Wariner or Warren. Their only child, Charles McPherson Short. On Charles death certificate it mentions his parents names.. The closest that I can figure out that William probably got married in the late 60's but no later then 1872, because that's when Charles McPherson Short was born. I have not been able to place William Boyd Short on the 1870 census. So I want to think that he was married after 1870 but no later then 1872. Remember Charles was born in 1872. If anything the marriage could taken place alot eariler then 1870 but not later then 1872. If you happen to have a marriage record book on hand could you please check the index. for William Boyd Short and Caroline Wariner or Warren. Charlotte
For any of you who have family history ties to Floyd Co, KY, you may be interested in this documentary on PBS. It follows the lives of two teenage Floyd Co boys for three years. I watched part one last night Jan 9, 2006. Part two tonight and part three tomorrow night, six hours in all. Each segment is two hours. You can watch the entire video on your PC at the PBS Web Site. You can also order the film in DVD or VHS. It was very interesting to see the Floyd Co countryside and people in their daily lives. I loved the shots of the trains, tunnels, and trestles. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/countryboys/ chris hayes ~ washington state

I am deeply saddened to have learned of the passing of David. He was a cousin of mind through the Ealey family. I too have greatly benefited from his work in the field of genealogy as many of us have over the years. I will always treasure the hours we have shared not only online, but by phone as well. He had a great devotion to genealogy and will be missed by all. Bill Reed

Hi Brenda, The Floyd County Historical and Genealogical Society, P. O. Box 982, Prestonsburg, KY 41653 is now in the planning stage to produce a book of all veterans of the U.S. Military with Floyd Co. connections. They are requesting biographies for inclusion in the book. I know very little about it, except Bobby Wells mentioned it on the KYFLOYD-L@rootsweb.com mailing list. Her email address: questionwell@yahoo.com <mailto:questionwell@yahoo.com> Her mailing address: Bobby W. Wells 110 Burke Avenue Prestonsburg, KY 41653 Bonnie
HOW DO i GET THE VETERAN BOOK, WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A COPY, tHANK YOU Brenda
Herbert, I have Ova Lee as dying in 1975 in Ohio. I've listed his death record below. It seems that ordering a copy of Anna Jewell's death certificate would confirm her cause of death? Even if the paper was given false information, the death certificate should be accurate. You might try ordering a copy. Hope this helps. Libby Preston Ohio Death Records: Name: Ova L Vanhoose Gender: Male Date of Death: 15 May 1975 Volume: 22138 Certificate: 047051 Autopsy: No Autopsy Marital Status: Divorced Place of Death: , Vinton County Certifier: Coroner Race: White Residence: , Vinton County Age: 51 Years
