    3. Laurie, Thanks for the reply. I don't recognize any of the names you mentioned but I am curious about the surname CALLOWAY. Are your Calloways related to the Boyds? I was wondering because in my research (about 3 generations back) on the Boyd family I always found members of the Calloway family living with them. I am researching Anderson (Ancil) Boyd b Jan 1 1873>Ulysses,Ky and Catherine Beasley. Ancil's parents were James Boyd b Feb 1845 and Martha Walker b Jan 1850. Anderson died in Johnson County Jan 2, 1951. I've not done as much research on the Webb line yet, so there may be a connection there later on. Do you have a Boyd > Calloway connection? James Had a brother named Anderson and he had a son Leo. This is indeed the family that I am working with. Trying to find out where James came from. Calloways are listed with James Boyd and other family members. I think that perhaps Sarah could have been married to a Calloway prior to James? The reason is that Cornealis is listed in a census with Lewis and is listed as a brother. Write back soon. Laurie

    1. HALL FAMILY
    2. Thanks Donna, but I need to go backwards. The David Hall I am looking for was John M.'s father. John and Susannah had eight children, and David B. was their second child. Their last child Martin was my great grandfather. Several names repeat in my branch of the Halls, Martin and David for example. If you have this information perhaps you may know something about John's parents David Hall & Betty Music. All I know for sure is David died shortly after John's birth in Rowan Co.,NC in 1822. Thanks for taking the time to post. Your David was the grandson of the couple I know nothing about...Ron Hall

    3. I have to agree with Mary, the ladies at Johnson County Courthouse are a super bunch! Each time I go there is like Christmas. Always new goodies to bring home. I will also say that the ladies at Johnson County Public Library are a great bunch. If any of you haven't been to the Johnson County Historical Society website lately, try to do so. I have it all decked out for Christmas. http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyjchs/johnson.html Another item I wanted to mention, if you are a member of the Historical Society, now is the time to start sending in your dues to ensure you do not miss your first copy of the Highland Echo. And on that same note, the next meeting of the Johnson County Historical Society is this Saturday, December 4, 1999, at 10:00 a.m. It will be held at the library. I am going to try my best to be there. Have a great day of research! Ann

    3. Hi all, I too have holiday fat fingers plus were are on 7/12's at work. Doesn't leave much time. Can anyone tell me if there is anything on line with the names of the prisoners that would have been in the Frankfort Jail in the 1870's. I just received my copy of the Kentucky Explorer and it had a great story on the prison. I think this is where my gggrandfather James Madison Welch would of been sent after he allegedly murdered Asa Castle. Also to let you know that I sent a list of my mysteries to Johnson County Courthouse along with a self addressed envelope and the results were wonderful. The girls in the office were like Santa and sent me wonderful items. I have copies now of the marriage licensee of James Madison Welch to Elizabeth Collins, William Welch to Angeline Collins, Elijah Welch to Polly Waddle ( this was a marriage that everyone said never happened...it did tho and now I have the proof). I will be sure to send the girls in the office a real treat at the holiday time for all their work and effort. Still tho I have yet to find the info on the James Welch and Ethel Litton family (my grandfather) Ethel is still a mystery. Thanks tho to a poster in Pike Co. I did find the Varney connection (an obit in a scrapbook) to Welch. His mother was a Lucinda Welch. So you see I am here still trying to turn this bramble bush to a family tree. Plus trying to get everything together for Christmas. @ trees up and 3 to go. I love Christmas. Do my trees in themes was going to do an "ancestry" tree but wasn't able to finish all the photos and histories and items from every state that they came from. Hopefully next year I will have ample items to do this tree. Semper Fi. I don't know about the families you mentioned, but there is a lady on my mailing list whose husband is of the Lowe family. In fact, I sent her a very old picture album recently (from an auction in southern Oklahoma). The album had a lot of Lowes in it. All pictures were indentified, some from the 1860's. All that is leading up to maybe she can help you. Her husband is in the military, stationed in Okinawa. She and the kids are there with him. Her name is Sallie Anderson, and the e-mail address is

    3. Perhaps everyone is deleting e-mails with subjects like this, as it does not show ANY relationship to genealogy. Who knows how many good bits of information have gone by the wayside because of an incorrect subject line? I know I must have deleted at least twenty with this subject, without opening them.
