    3. Candy, It must be because we are in Michigan. I think the are snubbing us. I have a Welch who married a LeMaster and still no one will claim me. I think that they are all jealous that we can hold up our hand and point out just where we live. Who needs maps. I have a Mary Welch who married Raymond Lemaster. she was born 1916 and married in 1936. Still alive as far as I know. (Always add pertinent genealogy info to idle chit chat. That's why we Michiganders are always on top. ) Only kidding. Please don't stone me. {o O {o Semper Fi. 3. The secret to the taste of the corn was that it was home grown. If you can, get corn from a farm market or grow it yourself. Cut it off the cob and then take a knife and scrape out the heart of the corn. It makes it milky and sweet and creamy. Jtink11731@aol.com wrote: > > Does anyone have a recipe for 'fried corn'? 2. Ann: Thanks so very much. You are terrific. Probably as good looking as my great grandmother Lucinda, too, but more than likely with smaller than her size 12 shoes. Are you tall also? I was told that she was 6 feet tall. At first, I was going to say "no" to the grandchildren of Lewis and Martha. Then I thought that that would bring another group of them up to the time of my Lucinda. Yes, I'd love to have the info. Bud

    1. Jayne family
    2. Candy Parent
    3. Upon making a heritage album, I discovered a slight error in my database, which leads to another family: The Jaynes. Family history states that Civiller (I've seen many spellings) was a full blooded Cherokee. She married Robert Jonathan Stambaugh on 16 Nov. 1859. Her marriage record lists her as 15. Death record lists 20 in 1861. Census for 1850 lists an 8 year old Civiller with Civiller & Daniel Jayne as parents. She had one child, Lavina who later married Francis Marion Preston. Does anyone have further information on her? Is the census record for 1850 the same individual that married Robert Jonathan Stambaugh? Is anyone else researching the Jayne family? Have they ever heard of the Cherokee roots? Candy Parent Tazewell County, VAGenWeb Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~vatazewe Candy's Clan http://www.htonline.com/~candy candy@htonline.com

    3. Bud, I have so many Eastern KY lines that I probably have more to explore... I am far from "finished!" I do have Stambaugh blood in me (quite a bit of it) and you guys were mentioning that connection to the Lemaster family, so I guess we could be considered cousins after all! Now if you guys ever wonder on down to Greasy Creek, let me know... I believe I'm related to everyone there! And, does anyone know what area that is today? 3. Sure... I don't have much at all on them, but you're welcome to what I have. Elizabeth Jane Meade (1860-4 Feb. 1933) married Ransome Ward. I have yet to find a date. Elizabeth is buried in the Ward family cemetery in Banjo Branch, Kentucky. I have yet to determine which "city" it falls into... I've seen it as River and Offutt and some mail is delievered via the Paintsville post office. Her father was Henry P. Meade. According to Kozee's book, Early Families, he was born in Castlewood, Russell County, VA and died in 1860 in Johnson County, KY. He married Elizabeth Hicks, daughter of Charles Hicks. Henry's father according to Kozee, was Fielden Mead who married a Thacker. Is this your branch of Meades?
