At first I wanted to write individual letters to everyone who responded to my plea for help and prayers in finding my grandkids. I gratefully received more than 200 messages. It would take longer to answer each one than it did to find my grandkids. Due to all the prayers, advice, suggestions, and offers of help, I FOUND THEM.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are in Orlando, Florida, and I have their address. They have been gone for more than 5 years now, but they have only been in Florida for the past two years. My only problem is, I'm not sure how I want to contact them. I don't want to cause any trouble, so I'm considering just sending a Christmas Card asking them to please call or write to me. And for the time being, I cannot let my son know I've found them. I want to make sure what the situation is like before I let him know. Thanks so much for everything. Is this how so many of us come up with 10 or 12 generations of family history with not even one "bad" guy? Bud The Smith's were proud of their family tradition. Their ancestors had come to America on the Mayflower. They had included Senators and Wall Street wizards. They decided to compile a family history, a legacy for their children and grandchildren. They hired a fine author. Only one problem arose -- how to handle that great-uncle eorge, who was executed in the electric chair. The author said he could handle the story tactfully. The book appeared. It said "Great-uncle George occupied a chair of applied electronics at an important government institution, was attached to his position by the strongest of ties, and his death came as a great shock."

I understand there is a McKenzie homestead somewhere in Johnson County, Kentucky but I haven't located it as yet. << This is to Mary in Ohio: My files show a JAMES HENRY MCKENZIE b. 1803 in Scott County, Virginia and d. 1863 in Johnson County, Kentucky. He was married to FRANCES ESTEP, birth & death dates unknown. They settled in Sitka, Kentucky. JAMES HENRY MCKENZIE'S parents were JOHN MCKENZIE b. about 1775 -1780. He was married to MARTHA PATSY COCKE/COX b. about 1777 - 1784. I do not know who the parents of JAMES HENRY MCKENZIE were. However, someone told me his father may be HUGO MCKENZIE and the mother's name Bridget? This has not been proven. This seems to be the brick wall that everyone has run into. Hi Mary, Would you have any info on the family of Sherman McKenzie who married Jemima Chandler? We can't find anything before Sherman. We have no idea who his parents were. His birthdate is Sept. 1865-Chandlersville, Johnson co., Ky. Hello all, I'm interested in the descendants of John Stapleton and Margaret Salyer. John was the son of Thomas Stapleton, born in Virginia, ca 1829. Margaret was the daughter of William Salyer, born in Virginia, ca 1930. They moved from Virginia to Johnson County and later moved to Magoffin County. I think some of the older children had married and remained in Johnson County. John was hanged in 1884 and Margaret and the youngest 6 children moved to Carter County, Kentucky. My grandfather, Noah, was one of those younger children. I'm like to know more about those children of John and Margaret who stayed behind in Johnson/Magoffin Counties. This is to Mary in Ohio: My files show a JAMES HENRY MCKENZIE b. 1803 in Scott County, Virginia and d. 1863 in Johnson County, Kentucky. He was married to FRANCES ESTEP, birth & death dates unknown. They settled in Sitka, Kentucky. JAMES HENRY MCKENZIE'S parents were JOHN MCKENZIE b. about 1775 -1780. He was married to MARTHA PATSY COCKE/COX b. about 1777 - 1784. I do not know who the parents of JAMES HENRY MCKENZIE were. However, someone told me his father may be HUGO MCKENZIE and the mother's name Bridget? This has not been proven. This seems to be the brick wall that everyone has run into. I do show the parents of MARTHA PATSY COCKE/COX to be DAVID CLINTON COCKE/COX and JEMIMA LEACH; then hit the brick wall again.
