    3. Hi, Peg. I'm new here! This is so much fun!!! I am a Holbrook from Johnson County. My Gfather was Dave Holbrook. My Gmother was Bessie Smith. They were from the Smith Creek area. I think the mail goes to Mima, KY. My father is buried in the Holbrook Cemetery along two uncles. His name was Ora Whipple Holbrook, his brother was Willis Edward. My time is so limited, but I have wanted to do this for so long. My mother's family is quite the mystery. She comes from Floyd County. Weeksbury or Wheelright area. The Newsome/Dawson sides. I have hit so many dead ends. But I'll keep trekking on. I know there are people out there I can find information from. I hope to hear from you so we can compare notes. It is such a wonderful heritage, I especially miss the August meetings. 3. Seems to me, my mother (Ivel Conley Daniel - Paintsville) used to put just a tiny pinch of sugar in it, too. Also, after she cut off all the kernels, she scraped the cob with the knife to get the remaining corn "juices." I've tried making it, but it seems it never tastes quite like hers did. ....Marilyn Daniel Chesney mchesney@pe.net http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/7997 Fax #: (419) 828-4188 ICQ #1486742 -----Original Message----- From: RobinettFA@aol.com <RobinettFA@aol.com> To: KYJOHNSO-L@rootsweb.com <KYJOHNSO-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, December 08, 1999 2:27 PM Subject: Re: fried corn >My Grandma, Mollie Curtis Pigg Wells, of Paintsville (Greentown) used to make >fried corn by putting some butter in her big old cast iron skillett and then >would cut the kernels from fresh picked (from her garden) corn and add to the >skillett with a little salt and pepper. >Peg Robinette Sullivan > >In a message dated 12/08/1999 3:02:03 PM US Mountain Standard Time, >Jtink11731@aol.com writes: > ><< Does anyone have a recipe for 'fried corn'?
