Labor day weekend sounds like a really good time for me. My graduating class is also thinking of having their own class reunion that weekend. Do you think any others from our list would be gathering in Paintsville/Johnson Co. at that time, which would give more of us "out-of-staters" an opportunity to attend a Johnson Co. List gathering? I would certainly love to meet everyone. ....Marilyn Daniel Chesney mchesney@pe.net http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/7997 Fax #: (419) 828-4188 ICQ #1486742 -----Original Message----- From: shannon daniels <shan146@webtv.net> To: KYJOHNSO-L@rootsweb.com <KYJOHNSO-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, December 15, 1999 8:20 PM Subject: Re: Johnson County Gang Please count me in for a Johnson County List gathering!!!!! I like that idea. But when is it safe to still go through cemeteries without having to worry about copperheads? Until there's a chat room up and running.... I've never been to KY and will be going down for the first time between May 16-21. Will probably stay in Prestonsburg, since we plan on hitting both Johnson County and Floyd County. I was hoping that a bunch of genealogists (and us wanna-be's) could meet up, share data and hit the archives, bookstores, courthouse and cemeteries together. Most of all, I wish to walk the same ground my ancestors did. I'd also like to meet some of you folks. (I got so excited about this trip that my mom has decided to join me. She was born in Floyd County and her mother in Johnson County, but she hasn't been there in over 50 years.) Will be a lot of fun. As the time nears, I'll drop another message or two. I hope to see some of you there! ...Karen Karen Ammon Franklin, WI http://hometown.aol.com/am mon01/index.htm
In reply to Jim Hawes Chat Room idea........Amen and Thank You Ann for looking into it I am a former Johnson County person now living in the West and read all the letters posted so that I don't miss anything. The time reading them gets longer everyday and I was considering dropping out, but decided to hang in and see what happens. I have doing research there for over thirty years and have answered several request for information in private e-mail that I could have been posted for all to read but didn't want to jam things up any further. Which is the preferred way when you have 2 or 3 pages....send to the list or to the individual privately? Thank You again Ann for all that you do and have done in the past I believe we all appreciate your efforts. Mary made a wonderful suggestion about cleaning the cemeteries. I have some dates I need to look up too. Let us know what you decide Ann. In regards to the below email. This netwalk site doesn't contain data for information about Jenny Wiley herself. What is stated is that I used the book from the Jenny Wiley association to help with missing data for the pension file of Captain Henry Connelly.
